Default Full Metal Alchemist live action movie

I know the concept of a full metal alchemist live action movie may sound a little lame, but I think it could be done. Do you think it would b e agood idea to make a live action full meatal alchemist movie?

I hope not. Hollywood would just screw it up and sanitize it.

No. Can't be done. The storyline doesn't fit in western culture and the plotline itself is too big to cohesively fit into a movie. **** the plotline was too convoluted to cohesively make sense in the series and animated movie combined. Though great it still was.

Some things just should not be movies and this stands as a work of art in its own medium and should stay there though.

The story does fit in with western culture actually. Fullmetal Alchemist as a work itself has a very western setting and characters rather than it being very strictly set in and around Japan.

This si true. But the themes of equivalent trade and the general actions of characters and some of their philosophies feel very Eastern, even if it does seem to bet in a European type setting. Take the movie for example where theye clearly attempt to set it in our world. Doesn't it seem a little off when the Furor (now a Jewish filmmaker in Munich, Germany) thinks Ed is an anti-Semite in post-War Germany when he attacks his driver and threatens his life? Then he asks Ed to drive for him....a little off for the replacement theory but then again that isn't neccesarily a good representation of Germany in the 1920s.

While yes the characters are blonde for the most part and the setting is just not Japanese the whole acceptance of Alchemy and guys in giant suits of armor has more to do with Japnese fiction than Western, albeit it does bear a striking resemblence to Of Mice and Men when they are walking around, but the message is quite a bit different though.

I thought it would be cool if Square did an FMA movie in full CGI like with Final Fantasy Advent Children, but that's just a pipe dream.

I don't wanna see it. The characters I became attached to were not only the looks but the voices and personalities as well. I agree with Vile. I don't think Hollywood could pull it off. I don't even think they could make a good transition with different material (ex. X-Men).

As far as I'm concerned we already got the perfect FMA movie.

I don't want another one, especially one made by Hollywood.

It would be real good to see. I think it is very western. It has many subplots like science vs. religion, separation of church and state, and freedom of religion. Paramount should be the studio that handles it and directed by Guillermo del Toro.

Erm, what is it with everyone's fixation on a bloody trilogy? What? Is it wrong to actually create more than three films? Lucas created 6 (OK, that wasn't so good), Star Trek TOS put out 6 too (well, make up your own mind).

For goodness sake, does everyone in the movie industry think in base-3 nowadays?

I have been thinking that this would work well outside of three movies mainly just 4 movies. It can work, it is something I think about on constant bases. I have been thinking that it should be based on the anime with some elements of the manga mainly because it should flow better. Just some of my thoughts. Oh and hey Louie how long have you been on here.

It'd be way too hard, it's a long manga (forget the anime, it's far inferior in comparison) and a long series. To make it into one movie (let's be realistic, that's all they'd be able to do), it'd be far too condensed and retarded.

Lawrence Fishburne owns the film rights to the Full Metal show, so I don't know how this would/will turn out.
