Default Now that LOTDK is ending...

It is ending right?
Does anyone know what's going to be the last issue?

Anyway, what we're your favourite runs?

I still remember that I loved Shaman and Venom very much.
My fav's would be these:

1. Shaman
2. Faces
3. Venom
4. That early run with Poison Ivy, it had the most gorgeous covers...

Prey and Heat we're kinda good, but the artwork just isn't for me.

Strange thing I read the entire run of LOTDK, but I can clearly remember the older issues not the latest issues.

Gothic was probably my favorite. Such a great plot. And I'm a sucker for a good yarn with flashbacks.

I love Terror, I just think Catwoman looks great in it.
I like how they've paid attention to her hair- the length is in between Year 1 short, and The Long Halloween long.

What was the name of the Poison Ivy one?

Prey.

Venom was boring and BTW can it be in continuity, it seems to go over a year or something ?

Same thing with Faces. It should be the second Two-Face story, but it's not possibly that he was in prision for 2 years...

I just bought Faces. It was set 2 years after Two Face escaped from Arkham. You are right though, it is hard to accept it as continuity if he is in hiding for two years, there just isn't time for it.

On my shelf I've put it just between Robin Year One and Nightwing Year One. How long was Dick Robin anyway?

I though Faces was a Joker story. About how Joker and Bats first met and where he got his Joker toxin. The cover was the Joker holding a cat with a huge Joker like grin on it's face. (a test subject for the toxin I think?). Please
correct me if I'm wrong.

You're talking about LOTDK #50, it expands on Joker's origin. The cover you're talking about is by Bolland.
Faces is by Matt Wagner about Two-Face.

Venom has to be in continuity. It's referenced in later interactions between Bane and Batman. As for the years thing, sometimes it's best to remember that writers forget comic-book time conventions, and just shorten that a bit.

It was, but I personally like to think that when you overlook a few minor details, almost any non-EW Batman story, and even a couple actual EW ones like the Man-Bat one, can fit into continuity.

I pretty much loved the entire run of LotDK. If I had to pick one I might go for Shaman, but it was a really great book, and I'm sad to see it replaced by Confidential. I still miss Shadow of the Bat actually, I'd love to see that one come back.

We're left with Batman, Detective, and Confidential now, right? (All-Star is a lie.)

Like Gotham Knights, Legends of the Dark Knight became a pointless book. I'm glad to see it gone. DC needs to reduce the Batman line.

I think the Batman line is now reduced to Batman, Detective Comics + Robin, Nightwing, and Catwoman (I wonder which one of these books is next, my guess is on either Catwoman or Robin). DC is doing the same to Superman, reducing him to Superman, Action Comics + Supergirl. I think the Confidential and All-Star books are separate line-ups and don't count as Batman and Superman books in a technical sense.

Anyways, I'm glad that DC is reducing the Batman and Superman lines and let other characters shine. Wonder Woman and Green Lantern are getting All-Star books (I wouldn't be surprised if they got Confidential books eventually). A Green Lantern line has been created by having Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps (hopefully Ion will become an ongoing). Connor Hawke is getting a mini (maybe someday, he'll get an ongoing once again).

The Confidential books are in-continuity, so they should count.

hippie hunter, why did LOTDK become pointless?
Confidential is basically the same thing...

Yes, i thought the same.

I think it's this way: Batman (89) -> LOTDK, Batman Begins -> Confidential

Almost same concept, but they want new readers.

They are tecnically a separate line because the line-up could expand to include characters such as Wonder Woman and Green Lantern. Just like I said, it's like an in-continuity All-Star book.

Because originally the point of the book was to tell stories of Batman's early days. The early days concept can last only so long to where it would come to a point where the early days would just get cluttered up. Then during War Games they used the book tell War Games, a story set in the current day. Kinda defeats the purpose of the book, it shows that DC would do such a thing again. Also, I think that DC should reduce the number of Batman and Superman books. Cancel Robin, Catwoman, and Supergirl. Maybe even Nightwing (if Wolfman can't save that book).

Quote:

Personally, I'd rather see these Confidential books not get made. Same with All=Star. Keep the Batman and Superman lines to just Batman, Detective Comics, Superman, and Action Comics. It would show Marvel a thing or two how to run the Spider-Man and X-Men lines (the Fantastic Four and Avengers are starting to get a few too many books also)

Y'know, I get your point about how the Batman and Superman titles should be more limited, but if you want more "B-listers" to get more books, why do you want Nightwing, Catwoman, etc. cancelled? I mean, they're nearly as much B-list as Ion or the Corps.

Because I see them more as Batman titles than DC titles. And I'd reall like to have Batman and Superman reduced to just two books. It would make them appear more equal to characters such as Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Green Arrow.

Add the fact that Nightwing and Catwoman are currently sucking at the moment. Bruce Jones anally raped Nightwing's character in the book and the story in Catwoman has dragged on for far too long, I also find Holly as Catwoman to be stupid.

Also, I'd like to see Nightwing and Catwoman play more promenent roles in the two main Batman titles like Robin has been since OYL has started.

Personally, I wouldn't. I prefer the varity. I prefer not having a bunch of sidekicks jammed into Batman stories every month. As you said, it's really pretty rediculous for a single character to have more than two books (really, I would lobby for only one if not for the longstanding histories of the four main Superman and Batman books). But if it's different characters. If it's different types of stories. I like it.

I have to say that in someways I'm like Mark Millar. I love books that have a whole bunch of superheroes working together in one book. More bang for your buck. It's why I beleive in HUGE rosters for the Justice League, X-Men, and Avengers. Having Batman, Robin, and Nightwing together in the main Batman book would rock hardcore.

I too would lobby to cancel Action Comics and Detective Comics if they didn't have such high numbers and the fact that they were the first Batman and Superman books. Also unlike the numerous Spider-Man and X-books, they each have their own purposes. Batman portrays Batman in a more superheroic world where he can go off fighting with Superman and the Justice League facing obsurd foes such as Clayface and Man-Bat. Detective Comics shows Batman in a more realistic world and shows off his detective skills instead of his skills as the ultimate Renaissance man. Superman shows Superman in a more humanistic view. Action Comics shows Superman in a more Kryptonian view.
