Default The Crying Issue

So, ive been hearing lately and seeing for myself that men are starting to cry a lot more in public. I stress that because men have always cried, they're just really good at hiding it. The question is, why is it becoming more acceptable for men to cry in the eyes of other men. It is just society that's accepting this development or are men actually opening up to the idea that "feeling" isnt a bad thing?

Just curious to know what the men think, and whether any of you will openly admit to crying every once in a while.

More importantly, does it bother you that other men seem to be more emotional, are they tainting the masculine image?

Women, feel free to give your views. :meow:

I only cry if I'm wasted and watching Spider-Man, The Empire Strikes Back or King Kong.
Also during and after sex, if I'm on acid.

Frankly, I'm not particularly interested in broad gender trends.

And I ****ing hate the concept of gender roles.

Ultimately, doesn't it seem like such a crushing blow to individuality? "Be who you want to be, just as long as it fits into this square box, thanks."

Whenever I see someone defending gender roles, I just think it's so utterly backwards, and to me it just feels like they're telling us that fitting into the stereotype is somehow "the norm" or "the ideal". I doubt you'd see the same people defending racial "roles". After all, would you say that all Asians should be extra good at math? Or that all black people must be good at basketball?

As per the crying issue, I'm not sure where you're seeing this trend. I've seen no visible increase in men crying in public, and as far as I can remember, I'm not sure I've seen ANY men crying in public.

And if someone you do entirely respect does cry in public for wtv reason, does that change how much you respect them?

Im not discussing gender roles per say, just a habit that men tend to keep hidden. And yes, men are statistically not as self-concious about crying and the admitting of that fact.

"runs of crying"? Is that when you have diarrhea so bad it makes you cry?

Anyway, I hate sports, so, I can't remember what it was, when Seattle lost the Superbowl or something, I get to work and on the front page of the paper, a grown man at the game, weeping, like, swollen face and snot dripping down his face - weeping.
Hahaha, that cracked me up.
And I'm sure he beat up a few "wussy f*****s" in his school days.

I think crying is crying. And if you thinks it's "gay", then it should be "gay" in any case.

The last time I cried in public, but I held it in and I went off to some deserted area so no one could see/hear me, was when my dog past away. I loved that dog.

Actually if youre gay why would you be crying?
Unless you were really gay and crying because you are so gay
Like at weddings when the bride cries because she is so gay or when a husband and wife have their first child they cry because they are so gay.

Pretty much. I think I've cried in public all of once since my childhood ended, and even that one time... I tried really hard to restrain it.

Adults should be able to control their emotions in the vast majority of situations. (Something like a funeral, or at the hospital when a family member/good friend has died could be exceptions to the rule.)
