Bale is too good of an actor to waste on such a one dimensional character like Bond.

It also comes down to how both actors looks as Bruce Wayne, Bale has more of playboy look and Thomas Jane looks more rough and gruff.

Y'know, theoretically, Bale could've played both Batman and Bond at the same time.

Although, I think Bale probably may have found some balance in BR.....I don't think Keaton could pull off the Batman in BB. There seems to be alot more to do, whereas his Batman was so much in the shadows.....he would have twice as much dialouge too, which again....is uncharacteristic of Keaton's Batman. But, still....Keaton's a pimp...hell, he'd probably find a way even then. Nobody thought he would with BATMAN. Quote:

I think Bale is one talented actor. I think he's VERY talented. However, I think he's starting to become one dimensional as far as his choices of roles go. I mean, I know it's good marketing for him and it'll hold onto his cult audience but does he really have to keep playing dark, tortured souls? He hasn't played them in EVERY movie, but still, he always finds a way of having these characters who in some way have a cult appeal to them, even in Reign of Fire. I DO think he's a very good actor but I think he and Nolan both chose to do Batman for reasons other than trying to pay TRUE homage to the iconic character. I think it was a very good vehicle for both of them fanwise. I mean, hell, anybody who made a dark Batman film after the travesty of "Batman and Robin" and didn't completely screw it up was going to be called a hero. They just got there first. I don't think "Batman Begins" is very clever, well told story-wise, or that Bale makes a very deep Batman, but I do think that career wise, Bale knows that playing Batman in a "gritty" film version would forever label him as great in the eyes of today's anti-hero loving fans. There are a lot of flaws with this movie but the facts that
1) it was a "dark" take on Batman 2) it starred an actor known for playing dark characters and 3) it didn't completely suck story-wise have made it completely over-rated in my opinion. I agree, Bale would be a better Bond-like character than Batman. I hate the direction this series seems to be going casting-wise. All these hunky sex symbols playing heroes and villains. Make mine Keaton.

![]() I think Bale takes characters that are interesting. The fact that most of them are dark just displays what he considers interesting in movie roles.

I also stand by thinking that Bale (or his agent, or maybe both) chooses roles that are of a dark nature because that's where his fanbase wants him and that's where the money lies... for now. Bruce Campbell chose to work on "Congo" because it was an exotic location and it was a movie based on a very popular book by a very famous author. If the God of cult fanboy culture admits to not caring how bad the script was... well, you get the point. I don't know Bale personally and I don't know how the guy thinks... I'm just saying that he's found his marketablitiy and he's riding it out. If he's making good movies in the meantime, good for him. What do you think the chances are of Bale playing a flaming mad homosexual in a woman's bikini in an off-the-wall film directed by Lance Bass are? Even if he read the script and thought it was amazing... he's got an image to keep. haha, I remember reading that Fox executives were pissed when Hugh Jackman was doing his musical dance routine onstage at the Oscars or some other awards show because "dammit... he's Wolverine!". that's hilarious
