When "others" appeared, and they still have connections with the outside world.
LOST is officially lost.

You all are dumbasses. Season 2 sucked but now it's coming back in season 3 because they got their buffy writers back (except Fury). And you know last week's Locke episode was ****ing awesome. All they need to do is write Kate right and then it will continue to be good.

Dude, I've been reading sci-fi long before you're even BORN. I know that Lost is staying away from some cliché sci-fi explanations and going to the route of OTHER sci-fi cliché explanations.
But you're just a fanboy from Brazil, so why should I take you seriously? Back when I worked for the Italian Panini two years ago, we always knew that brazilian comic book fans were a disgrace.

People seriously need to STFU. Its three episodes in and you are *****ting all over it. Just because there is one thing you dont like doesnt mean the show is jumping the shark. "Waah, waah, the others are connected to the outside world" shut up. You dont like a part, it doesnt mean the whole is crap. I dont like people who whine about something jumping the shark when it hasnt, that doesnt mean I'm leaving SHH. You are not the only person who watches this show, and we all know it!!! Sorry. Went a little crazy there.

I'm interested to hear why people seem to think this show is on the decline. I like it, but I'm interested in why other people don't. Hmm... Reasons I Like "LOST" 1. The Characters -Every character on "Lost" is unique and interesting. Why? Because we don't entirely know what their motivations are. Every episode brings a flashback that allows us to look at a character with a fresh perspective. For example, 2 weeks ago when we saw Sun sleeping with the rich businessman (I forget his name). Didn't see that one coming, and it evolved her as a character. All of the flashbacks help to give dimension to the characters. Besides that, the interaction between the characters is pretty entertaining, too. Whether it's the Locke/Charlie pseudo-paternal relationship or Hurley & Libby and their past, or anybody conversing with Sawyer is always good for a laugh. 2. The Island -So you wake up on 'deserted' island to find out there's military bunkers, sentient clouds of killer black smoke, polar bears, crazy healing properties, and a kidnapping band of "Others" who can move about the jungle like ninjas. Oh, and a pretty good supply of food. Not even mentioning the weird coincidences (such as Kate's horse and Eko's plane full of Charlie's heroin)... which leads me to my next point. 3. The Mystery -As a TV show "Lost" is, first and foremost, a mystery show. We as the viewers have no clue what the hell is going on, and neither do our characters. As new twists and turns are introduced we are right beside the characters trying to make sense of it all. What's the purpose of the DHARMA stations still being manned? Who the hell are the "Others"? Will we ever find out why Walt was so special? Why are they all on the island, was it accident or on purpose? It's addicting. You WANT to know the answers. These are pretty much the 3 main facets of the show, and reasons why I like them. I'm positive that many people will dislike it for exactly the same reasons, for instance, that it doesn't give answers at the same rate it raises questions. Just hang on kids, my bet is after this little 6-episode mini-season revolving around Jack, Kate, & Sawyer, we'll get into some plot development with wider scope. This show isn't going to lay it all down for you explicitly in black and white. I'm fairly positive we'll be given some answers and left to fill in the blanks ourselves. Just like how the hatch was "explained" last season, I'm sure the Others will be "explained" in a similar fashion (that is to say: sort of explained, but not really). Now, I know TV is supposed to be passive entertainment, but I enjoy things that make you think, that make you put the pieces together yourselves. I'm going to keep watching "Lost". To do otherwise is to only deprive yourself of a good head-scratcher. Enough about me, what do you all think?

BSG trumps Lost IMO, simply because it has a plot that is moving forward. Lost, like everything JJabrams, moves forward at a snails pace (i'm talking overall/overiding plot). Events happen, but the show never moves forward from a narrative point of view. These first three episodes of season 3 have been the only forward movement that the show has had, over its entire existance. I still watch, hoping that something will happen, but it never does. When I watch Lost, I feel like I'm watching a show, whose only purpose is to keep dragging the audience along, without ever giving them a payoff for watching. This is done in order to maintain viewership, and ratings and $$$. Basically, I feel like I'm being screwed with, while the show answers 1 question, and dumps 10 more (most of which are never solved). When I watch BSG, I feel like I'm watching a story that is unfolding and can't wait for the next installment.
