at first they should just release it on dvd. even if it does get released in us theaters it'll be limited and probably for only a few weeks.

Yeah, i don't understand how we can get an obscure comedy like "Park Lewis Can't Lose" (Which I did like as a kid and is precursor to many modern shows now) on DVD but not this

I think they are silly not to release it in the US, market it right and with the good reviews it could make some decent money.

It pisses me off that the abysmal Conan got a release in the U.S. but this didn't. While I wouldn't call Solomon Kane a classic (and it did stray quite a bit from REH's work) it was still 10 times better than Conan.

Conan is a much better movie than you give it. However I agree though Solomon Kane is a very good movie. I loved it.

You thought the new Conan movie was good? Why? Seriously, I spent a dollar renting that film on Redbox and I felt like I paid too much. There was very little to it that was any good (IMO).

I dug the intro for the new Conan film, the rest I mildly enjoy.

I thought Conan was good up to the point Ron Perlman died (so like, the first 10 minutes). Stephen Lang was good but wasn't in it enough, Rachel Nichols delivered an even more phoned-in performance than she did in GI Joe (I didn't think that was possible), Rose McGowan played Rose McGowan as a Klingon, and Jason Momoa, while physically imposing and good in fight scenes, just seemed like a dull version of his Game of Thrones character. The story was weak, the direction poor... I guess you could make the argument that "Well, it IS a Conan movie," but damn it, I wanted to see a GOOD movie. I think there is enough there in the books and comics to make a much more solid film than that.

Out of interest, this is what the director of Solomon Kane thought of Conan:

It is sort of crazy Conan got a cinema relaese in North America and Solomon Kane can't even get a DVD release.

Paradox Entertainment and Davis Films sign Solomon Kane film/TV license http://www.cisionwire.se/paradox-ent...icense,e304874
Stockholm, 2012-04-25 01:13 CEST (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Davis Films and Solomon Kane Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary to Paradox Entertainment Inc., have signed a license agreement for film and TV rights to cutlass-wielding Puritan Solomon Kane, created by Robert E. Howard. The minimum guarantee for the five-year term generates a positive cash flow in the second quarter of at least 3 MSEK. Paradox retains all license and merchandise rights. Davis Films, headed by producer Samuel Hadida, previously held the film and TV rights together with Wandering Star. Together they released the first Solomon Kane film in 2009 featuring, among others, James Purefoy, Max von Sydow, and Rachel Hurd-Wood. “We’re very happy to expand our relationship with Davis Films and Samuel Hadida as they have great experience in building successful, international franchises,“ said Fredrik Malmberg, President of Paradox Entertainment. Excellent news! If a new film or a tv series is made, here's hoping they get James Purefoy to reprise the role! Last edited by rogue trooper; 04-25-2012 at 10:59 AM. |

You know, I hadn't even thought of it before but Kane could make for an awesome TV series. You could probably get Purefoy to play the role again too; he doesn't seem opposed to acting on the small screen.

I would much prefer another movie, but if a TV series is the only way to get more, then i'd be happy with that.

Rgarding the Davis/Paradox renewal, SK director Michael J. Bassett had this to say: Lots of people got excited about Davis Films renewing the option for Solomon Kane from Paradox. It doesn’t mean anything, to be honest. Though it’s certainly sensible of Samuel Hadida to retain the rights ahead of the US release. That renewed profile could certainly prove just what it takes to get another movie or TV series up and running. (Personally I think a TV series would be an ideal way to go.) If I’m involved or not is not even a question at this stage. Time will tell.

^So its finally getting a release in the US? About time if you ask me, hope its a pretty wide just to give the movie a chance to make enough for a sequel, which I would love.

Yeah, I might check it out in the theater if it comes my way. I'll definitely get it on Blu-Ray, regardless.
