I was so physically drained when the credits came that I couldn't even stand.

But yeah. Predominantly nerds, and they loved the movie. Looks like Burton did something right.... The audience went bonkers whenever Keaton did his thing. Everyobdy picked up on all of the humor, people went nuts for Jack, and don't even get me started on the reaction to Keaton suiting up in the third act. The Batwing in front of the moon? Total fanboy moment.

Sure, I already love the film, so it sounds like I'm making it all up, but I ain't. There just was not a hater or a heckler in sight.

I'll nevert fporget the first time I saw Batman back in 1989. First time I saw it I saw it three times in a row (back then you could do that in theaters.) Now I wish I could see it again on the big screen.

I would have loved to see it when it came out in 89 too people completely forget how big the film was mugs,t shirts, newspaper pullouts the works and it wasnt all hype the movie actually was amazing. I firmly beleive down the line in say 20 years people will still remember B89 over any other batfilm and that includes Begins which is good but doesnt come close.

I hope I live long enough to see the invention of time travel devices so I can go back to 1989.

Yeah, I think they should do a theater re-release. It would be great if they could do an expanded version for theaters.
When I saw it ppl were going crazy for the movie as well, especially in the moments Keaton appeared as Batman, the Batmobile, the bat-sign, the cathedral.. Just the final moment with the epic music still gives me goose bumps to this day. It was my most memorable moment in terms of watching a movie as well...
And how I miss the hype. What a great time to be a Bat-fan in 89 and 92. I miss those days when the Bat was all over the place.
I still hope one day the ppl at Warner Bros. will wake up and greenlight a Dark Knight Returns version with Keaton either for theaters, tv movie or mini-series for HBO.
Keaton should have been allowed to go full circle and finish his trilogy (preferibly with Burton) and say goodbye to the character on a high note.

Maybe in 2009 they could do a re-release for it's 20th anniversary? That would be neat.

I loved the scene in Returns when Batman straps a bomb around the fat man and back hands him sending him down the sewer to blow up ending in his demise.

See, I always thought that was kind of a fireworks-type bomb, judging by the excessive smoke and confetti (Kind of ridiculous to have one of your men carrying a firework as a bomb, but they are crazy and they DO live in the sewer). I just liked when Batman's walking with the bomb, then nails an ambusher without even looking at him. Pure Batman.

I love the shot with Catwoman skipping down the street near Shrecks Dept. store and she looks through the window with the big logo on it.

Not something the modern Batman would do, but a revenge-fueled Kane/Finger Batman? Yes!

What I love about Keaton is that when he does something badass, it's totally believable and not forced. When he smacksthe skeleton guy on the bike out of his way to rescue Selina at the start of Returns....it's pure controlled, channeled aggression. I can't think of many actors who can do that so believably.

Ok, children, this is how it goes. This thread is for Michael Keaton and Michael Keaton ONLY. "Bale sucks", or "Clooney blew chunks" or any overtly negative reference to any other Batman portrayer is NOT ALLOWED. If you can discuss in calm and rational reasons why you didn't like these other Batmen, you can, ONLY if you accept the fact that doing so will invite in their supporters. Since anyone who comes in here and attempts to support another point of view is bashed, I am forbidding such "debates."

Continue to praise Keaton, and post pretty pictures of him looking bad ass. But the next mention of how Bale was a pretender and I am closing this thread down. It is about Keaton. Leave it about Keaton.

(even though you all know the only really Batman is Adam West)

Fair is fair, and the authority has spoken. So people, please don't get my thread closed. If you can't discuss why you don't like Bale without bashing him, please don't say anything. I generally don't bash him when I say what I disliked about him, but I'll watch my words as well.

Not that I have faith in the thread remaining civil.

How could I watch this movie about 16 times in the theater back in 1989?
I went to the movie theater about five times. Cheap(o) tricks.

Some more pictures of Keaton as Batbadass:
