Default Anyone still disappointed with the CGI???

I know we got a million threads going but I am disappointed... I know we got five months but thats what we said with Xmen 3.... Sandman in the subway was atrocious... and where the hell is the imporvement on SPiderman... maybe I am too harsh but a movie with the highest budget ever by a single studio has to put a better product out their... stop making live action a cartoon... I am sorry if this has been talked about in other threads but I just saw the railer now and this really irked me...

This is getting ridiculous!!

THEY HAVE SIX F'ING MONTHS AND A HUGE BUDGET TO WORK ON THE MOVIE, THE CGI WILL BE FIXED!!

This reminds me of the first Hulk trailer, when people were crying and moaning about the CGI.

I'm gonna be honest. I really can't see what's so bad about any of the CGI. I think there's one shot that I thought was iffy in the entire trailer (starts at 1:20), but I really don't see the problem with the rest.

Actually, there probably were big improvements with the cg after 6 months before relase with X3. Remember Jean destroying the plastic doors in the teaser? And that was only 4 months before its release.

After seeing it in HD it looked alot better. There is still plenty of time to finish off the effects. Look at what we have seen added to the scenes from the teaser to the trailer already (i.e. The scene where Pete's reaching for the ring, and the scene where Pete's ripping off the costume). Just give it time and relax.

I know they still have 6 ,months to fix the cgi in post but it doesn't mean that it is gonna get a lot better. In spidey 2 some of the cgi was really bad, and so far I haven't seen any improvements on that department.

The part when spidey leaps at sandman in the subway looks horrible even for a movie still in post. black spidey flipping in the building looked really cartoony, and that's that there is not a good enough excuse for this. Looks like raimi doesn't learn, they keep making cgi shots of things that could be achieved practically. Like black suit spidey in close up sticked to the building. What the hell they could have done that with the stunt guy and a green screen behind him or even with tobey, there's no stunt there. It really pisses me off that they are wasting cgi money on things that could be done for real.

Sometimes scenes that look like they could be done cheaper without a CGI model actually end up costing more without the CGI model.

As for the quality of the CGi, it WILL get better, no matter how much you complain it won't.

Look ppl... this is a 250 millino dollar flick... I know that those are the standards for a summer block buster but we have to SEE the improvement without stilling frames and pausing after every second to examine it... I have always thought the CGI was the weakest part of the SM films... why the hell does Sadnman look like *****... the pick when he rises from the sand can be seen in your Xbox 360... the fist is a joke... the way he moves is laughable.... maybe I am too hard.... but this movie has expectations that need to be met... I am not picking on the plot or character portrayal... if the **** that up thats one thing..... but they absolutely have to nail this CGI... the Kraken made POTC 2 great despite the lack of story IMO... Sandman does not deliver in that trailer and I beg you people to differ... Collosus didn't improve in the Xmen trailer... the Hulk and the previous SM movies had thier flaws... I am keeping my fingers crossed hard right now... this just doesn't have the feel that it will be a 400 million dollar film from what I saw in that trailer... POTC fans can breathe a sigh of relief

Oh I hope you're right on that last part. as for the cheaper thing I don't know for sure and no one can, but I think is more a raimi thing he has done it before with part 1 and specially part2.

The HD version I've been watching is fine.

And even when I saw it on VH1 and on Ifilm, I thought the effects looked fine. Yes, if you freeze it frame by frame, you're going to notice that it isn't that real looking--Sandman/subway scene--but you can't even notice this when its going in regular motion...well, at least I can't.

To all those nutjobs who think that the CGI is completely finished 6 months before the release, you're just dumb. Its obviously going to get tuned up and improved even more.

And, to everyone complaining, I honestly didn't think the CGI looked bad at all. I actually thought that it was great.

Yeah, we know some of the CGI was lame. What's the point of making a thread so everyone can complain about it more?

I'm 90% sure that the digital effects will be improved by May. Let's just wait and see.

I'am sorry to say that I agree with you in most of the things you said. I mean with such a huge budget one would think that the cgi effects would blow every movie out of the water. But the sad thing is that the efects in Hellboy which costed around 60 to 80 mil, looked better than all the effects in spidey 2. So I think the money is not much of an issue here. and like you said sandman rising from the pile of sand looked really bad. I hope they texturize that sand and give some dimension to it. It looked rather flat like a rough rendering of it.

I am just worried b/c every said the same about Xmen.... nothing happened to improve it and that movie had a 190 budget.... and just wish they took a more realistic approach.... its just such a stark contrast with the realism of the characters and then the action...

X-Men 3 was a movie that wasn't being made with quality in mind. Raimi deliberately gave Spider-Man 3 a lot of time so it can be made in the best way, X-Men 3 is the flipside where it was rushed just so it could get out as soon as possible.
