My favorite part in Casino Royale was the introduction to the gun barrel... giving us a reason for why we see it in each and every Bond film. I loved how they did it... however, it got me thinking... they could have done it so much cooler! Here's how.
Okay, the scene goes as it does in the film, with the bathroom. They should have had the guy lift up his gun, point it at Bond, and then we get an inside view of the gun. We see the bullet inside the barrel, ready to fire, the gun fires, we see the bullet lift out of the gun with a flash of fire and sparks, now we have a first person view locked onto the bullet, exiting the gun barrell(yes, we actually leave the gunbarrel). We see Bond notice this, he turns around aiming his gun. He fires. His bullet collides with the other bullet and both bullets are pushed into the gun(we re-enter the gunbarrel) as the gun sparks and blows up since it is jammed. The blood drips down as this happens... enter title sequence. It sounds complicated, but I think this would have made the scene so much more badass... they should use it for the next bond film. ~SD

Why ruin something so simple and effective with fancyness?

Lol... since this was the realistic Bond... I think they should have done something like that. Sure, the originals are great... but this new Bond should have had a sleeker opening.
And, isn't Bond less simple, and more fancy? ~SD

Well. I'd think if bullets collided they'd stop in the place of impact, and if the gun exploded there'd be no barrel left.

That's would have looked laughable after that very dark and down-to-earth scenario. Furthermore, according to physics, it wouldn't work that way. A bullet wouldn't push another bullet back.
And I think you're mistaken as to what the intent of that sequence was. The idea wasn't to provide a real-life gunbarrel logo or "explain the story behind the symbol" - rather, the scene symbolically becomes the gunbarrel logo because Bond has just become 007. |

The Gunbarrel and the Opening Video was the only thing I had a problem with. The Rest was Great Bond is back.

I like the gun barrel in this movie, althought as the movie opens as a whole it might have been cool to see the white cirlce dot across the screen and open up the scene, as with other Bond flicks-only this time we just don't see Bond walking within the circle in his tux....

lol, I'm not saying the gunbarrel didn't work for me... that opening scene was my favorite part in the film... I'm just saying that it could have looked cooler and more realistic... however, the scene couldn't truly happen in real life... but, it's a movie. I just wanted something a little more intricate... that's all.

LOL.
Dude, I loved how everything was introduced so subtly. Bartender: "Shaken or stirred?" Bond: "Does it look like I give a damn?" I thought the gunbarrel thing was done perfectly fine. The opening sequence was short, sweet and meant something huge. Perfect. This has to be the best Bond film since The Spy Who Loved Me. |

Really bad opening - they didnt even play the theme over the barrel. And a bathroom brawl as the opening..come on.
