How come everyone always talks about making Superman like he is in the comics, but they just neglect the second most popular character his father? Jor-El has always been a young man similar in appearace to Superman. Period.

They need to just do it the right way or not at all. Donner gets a pass on the count of he made his movies before I was born and could ***** about it. Singer on the other hand isn't so lucky, He had 250 million dollars and all the potential in the world...and what does he give me? A dead Actor and some reused lines. If you see him on the street tell him I said "Thanks...For nothing."

correction...the 2nd most popular character is either Lois Lane or Lex Luthor. more people know their names than they do Jor-El.

as for your lil' rant, i agree with you to an extent...but i wouldn't call Routh a dead actor. you're putting blame where it doesn't belong.

hahahaha, Routh isn't the "Dead Actor" Marlon Brando is...he's been deceased for quite a number of years.

I would have actually cast Johnny Depp if they'd done a reboot this time around. And he would have been a very different Jor-El indeed.

It's too late to re-cast within this series now though, especially with anyone too unlike Brando's version.

With the crystals to the FOS being lost in Returns Jor-El may never be used anymore. Maybe they could bring back Susannah York as "Lara" who played Superman's mother in 3 of the theatrical versions of the Superman movies. They could always use her older footage & dub new lines over her original dialogue. Brando's lines were great as Jor-El in all the movies but they will become to repetitive & over used if they use them for each new movie.

I'd be perfectly happy with Jor-El staying dead this time. As effective as Brando's portrayal was, there's only so many times Superman needs to go to his mentor for advice before making his own way. It'd be like if Batman kept having more flashbacks of Thomas Wayne every time he got in a jam (yes, I know he did that in Begins, but imagine if they kept doing that in every movie)

They should get Gerard Christopher to play Jor-El.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, I can see him as a intelligent, kind hearted, but strong Leader AKA The Father of the Man of Steel. Smooth.

are you talking about a young jor-el in the movies or smallville, cos if you're talking smallville there's already been a dreadfully misguided episode where tom welling played him. yeah, i believe THAT, so when he's younger he acts and sounds like tom welling, and then grows up sounding like terence stamp, what a ridiculous idea that was.

Default Brando

I think Brando is necessary to explain the backstory of brainiac. Anyone think they will use some motion capture technology to create him as needed, or do you think he is done?

I think it would be great if he appeared one last time to speak with Kal-El directly for the final time (after the other crystals of the Jor-El program were destroyed).

They could use some of the cut dialogue from STM and SII.
