Not really. If you go back a good 20 years and have a young Jor-el (maybe in a recorded counsel meeting or something) establishing a prediction to events of Krypton it would not have to be Brando. He would need to speak with the same "englishesque" accent and bare somewhat of a resemblance. BUT it would certainly be possible to go with a different actor in that case. Hope that is clear to understand what I mean.

Yup. Just like the old days; lots of worrying, fretting, predicting, dissecting of "news," and plenty of arguments. Some things never change.

I felt reeves wanted to escape them also. IT seemed like since he couldn't do that, he ended up embracing it instead. I heard he really didn't want to do 3 or 4.

Does Superman even have access to the Fortress now? I mean, Lex stole all the crystals and they were left on New Krypton - a hunk of kryptonite irradiated crystal floating in space. Can Superman get them back? Does he even know where to look?

If he can and he does I'm fine if they continue to use Brando's likeness. His estate signed off on it and is likely being compensated for it and wherever he is I imagine Brando is beyond caring if Bryan Singer uses his 30 year old likeness to portray Superman's father.

Where is your info that confirms your claim about Brando wanting to "escape" these films?

Aside from several lawsuits and injunctions filed to keep the footage from ever being seen and his constant refusual to discuss the role in interviews?

I thought there was a money dispute. They didn't want to pay him for the sequel so the excised him from the film.

Didn't Brando get A LOT of dough just for those few scenes that he filmed

So we can safely say at this point, if we hear from Jor-el in a new Supes movie, it will actually be played by a different actor

Who would be a good choice?

See if any of these stick lol

Russel Crowe
Peter Gallagher
Tom Cruise

personally i would love for them to go with a younger more youthful looking jorel myself. Or another thing that would be neat if they got the route of jorel and kalel have extremely close looking look in them. So either get actors who look simular for clark/jorel or maybe have clark actor play jorel too.

I'd probably stick with an actor who's the same age as whoever it is playing Superman/Clark, the idea being that the age that Jor-El is when he dies would be the same age that Clark is when he becomes Superman.

I think Jim Caviezel would do a fine job in the role, and God(no pun intended) knows he would take the role and sequel clause considering how much work he has done post-passion. But he is kind of a douche in real life, which makes me somewhat happy that he didn't become Superman when he was age appropriate, although he would have delivered a great performance I'm sure.

Another actor that I think would make a great Jor-El is Paul Johansson, probably best known for his roles on One Tree Hill and Highlander: The Raven. I know he isn't the most known actor and wouldn't be the figuritve sexy choice, but I think he would be a damn good Jor-El if the character was portrayed in a TAS/Birthright/MOS style. I mean, he LOOKS like Superman circa Kingdom Come, and if you go back and look at pictures from his younger years, he looks like Superman. And I think he is an underrated tv actor who could give a great performance. And obviously, he would be easy to lock down for multiple sequels.

I think alot of folks would like what they would recieve from Paul as Jor-El, once they got passed the whole "Jor-El needs to be a big name" issue. Why they couldn't fin this guy back around 1997-2000 when the studio was desperate to make a Death of Superman film is beyond me, would have been perfect.

I do FIRMLY believe that whoever plays Jor-El should also have a "Superman" look about him, which is why I am dead set against ever showing an old man Jor-El again.

totally i would like to step away from that look too. he should be youngish looking 30s-late 40s or even early 50s if he has that young look in him. And as i said it would be nice for jorel actor and kalel/clark actor to have simular facial/body looks. So it makes it a bit more family like looks passed down. OR like i said even have clark actor also play jorel.

I understand people are talking about his physical appearance, but how old would/could Jor-El really be? I wondered about that myself. Since a number of stories refer to Kryptonian longevity, and their extremely advanced technology.
