it's not uncommon to have killings like the ripper. i read in my abormal psych text book that the authorities think there are something like a hundred serial killers at large in the U.S. and they're nowhere near tracking any of them down. and yeah, prostitutes are common targets because they are women who often have no one who will come looking for them or even report them missing.
