This really makes me angry. One night, we drove past Krispy Kreme, and there was this guy carrying a huge trash bag, FULL OF DONUTS!!! And a couple nights ago, we went to Popeyes right before they closed, and we had a big order, but they forgot the fries, so they asked if we wanted any free chicken, and we said sure, and my Dad said "sorry that we had such a big order", and the guy said "Its okay, we have to throw it away anyway". You could feed a whole bunch of starving people with that. Dumpster divers get pretty good food.

Some of that stuff doesn't keep well and I am very strict about following expiration dates. Open up a bottle of juice, you have 7 days to drink that bad boy and so on.

I had a buddy who worked at a bakery and at the end of the day he was suppoed to throw out the extra donuts and stuff, he would take a bunch home and he had a deal worked out with two restaurants and he would sell the day old to them instead of throwing them out.
He got caught and got charged and now had a criminal record due to it though. But yeah, they could feel homless with that stuff, though the smart homless should figure it out and go get it themselves.

Most smart homeless do. The restaurant about six miles out, a small place titled "L'Amore" throws out pizza and the homeless people are on top of that like stink on s***.

Last year, I went to my cousin's wedding. The reception was catered by a nice restaurant in her hometown of Lincoln. The food was excellent. However the caterers wouldn't let anyone take home the leftovers, due to health code violations. Some of the food if reheated could possibly give someone food poisoning and they wanted to avoid any lawsuits.
Damn shame too. Now, if you raise pigs then you can get some food for your animals. A pig farmer was shown on an episode of Dirty Jobs on the Discovery Channel. His farm is outside of Las Vegas, so he swings by all the casinos and gets the leftovers and thrown out food from the buffets and makes feed for his pigs, which essentially is a big stew. He also sells the oil that's produced in the cooking to cosmetic companies for use in their make-up |

A friend of mine's parents(many years ago) worked at a McDonald's. His dad was the manager. Well at the end of the night his mom would take the leftover food and give it to the homeless in the area. Well his dad told her to stop because it was policy to throw the food away, not give it to people. But his mom kept doing it, so his dad fired her. Several years later they divorced.
What an ass. Fires his wife for giving food, bound for the trash, to hungry people. |

something like that can affect the integrity of the entire chain....with a company that big, if it's thier policy, he could have lost his business from her doing that,.

That should make anyone angry, why throw away day old food, when in some cases it tastes just fine.It should be given to homeless people or donated or something.

This is really pathetic, homeless people don't need scraps. What they need are government sponsored half way houses to help them become productive members of socity.
