Default A Classic What If? Question

Now, I realize why in the Classic What If? Trade Paperbacks why Marvel didn't reprint this issue:

Obviously, they don't have the Conan contract. But, why in last month's new Classic What If? Vol. 3 did they skip reprinting this issue:

I can't figure this one out, unless the original writer has some agreement. In fact, I wish they'd do a Essential volume dedicated to Shang-Chi.

Because Fu Manchu is a racist character created in the early days of cinema that highlights all the negative stereotypes about the evil Asian. Best I can assume it was a PC decision.

Isn't Fu Manchu also a copyrighted character? (And not copyrighted by Marvel)

Even if they had no copyright problems they would probably not reprint Fu Manchu stories for fear of being sued.

Conan really owned Cap in the issue posted above if it's the one I think it is.

They lost the Fu Manchu rights after briefly having them in the 70s.

I'm surprised nobody has got a comic of Harry Potter put out. Maybe when Rowling is finished, she'll give out the rights to a comic book on him. But, if she did it right now, what better way to get kids back into reading comics.

They probably don't want to detract from novel sales yet. So they wait unitl the novel sales start sagging and then toss in the comics based on the books... and make meeelions!!!! MWAHAHAHA!!!! *ahem* Sorry about that...

Funny, I don't even remember that cover. It's the first cover that I remember and I may not even own that one. Strange how your memory plays tricks on you.
