Most parents in america have a morbid fear of their kids finding out about sex. We've only gotten a little better from the stork; why are parents so scared of their children finding out about a simple biological process? It's no more unnatural than breathing or going to the bathroom.

agreed...my favorite example of this is the whole GTA: San Andreas Hot Coffee incident...it's ok to have an extremely violent game where you can murder policemen and innocent civilians, crash a plane into a building in a suicide run, blow up an army base with a rocket launcher, etc. but god forbid there's some pixel sex in it! that's just evil!

Because they're afraid it will demoralize children.
![]() I know it's idiotic but I just live here. Plus the majority of parents annoy me. And as for the GTA:SA Hot Coffee thing, if I remember correctly it was a hack, and not part of the game itself.

South Park also poked fun at that too, noting that parents will overlook violence as long as sex is involved.

it was in the coding for the game, but you had to download a hacked save game file to get to it, and it would cause random lock ups because it was hacking the game...but it was in the coding, it just looked like something they scrapped for time or something...the mechanics of the hot coffee game were very similar to the dancing mini-game in it

Here's a reason...too many stupid people breed. The faster they find out about sex the sooner they bring another idiot into the world.

Personally I wish people would get a little prudent about sex and stop being like a bunch of ****ing pigs
But hell I'm in the minority there... I mean I can agree with how ridiculous people can be about sex but on the one hand I've never seen a problem with excessive violence since most people can distinguish right and wrong(hopefully) when it comes to violence. However considering the huge problem American has with sexual harrassment, I can see greater ramifications from sex on TV...

if a guy who watches boxing goes to a bar and beats the hell out of someone for no reason, you dont blame boxing, therefore why would you blame a guy hitting on his secretary on porn? the only people the media effects are those too weakminded and f**ked up in the first place to realize that it's not the real world

I have to concur on this subject. Referring to the movies, it's fine to see a person get shot and bleed, but when a woman takes off her top, Hell then freezes over.
This fear of sex is to be blamed on religious folks who take their moral beliefs a bit too far.

![]() I said I don't believe people seeing violence has an affect since people can judge right and wrong. However watching sex on TV does. Sex in the media is far more subtle since like 80% of all female characters in TV/Movies are sexual objects to some degree, etc... Women are nearly always used in a sexual light, it does purport an image of women as merely sexual objects, and saddly I do believe it has a sad effect on the american public which has led to the very disturbing statistics of I think like 1 in 3 women being sexually molested in some way once in there life. Violence is completely difference since it's very clear cut when we're kids that using violence to solve problems is wrong, but how many parents explain that treating women like sexual objects is wrong? That's why I think sex in the media is worse, however I think all out censoring is stupid. Sex is a part of life and culture, it can't be tottally erased, nor should it but it should be toned back I think...

What really gets me is how everyone freaks out over breasts. They're among the most beautiful parts of this universe.
Honestly.

* Every two and a half minutes, somewhere in America, someone is sexually assaulted. * One in six American women are victims of sexual assault, and one in 33 men. * In 2004-2005, there were an average annual 200,780 victims of rape, attempted rape or sexual assault. * About 44% of rape victims are under age 18, and 80% are under age 30. * Since 1993, rape/sexual assault has fallen by over 69%. http://www.rainn.org/statistics/inde...FRk3gQod5mbpEg Sorry I was off by 3 women, still it's a huge problem in america that is constantly being ignore because people choose to face the problem, just like racism, and various other issues in America.

you just destroyed your own argument by hitting the real cause of it...if parents would expain right from wrong to their children about sex as they do about violence, this wouldnt be a problem, yet we get kids going into sex ed in middle school who still think kids come from a f**king cabbage patch or stork because their idiot, fearful parents have tried to shield them from "the evils" of sex, so the only info they get on it is from television and on the street...so when it comes down to it, it's parents fault, just like a kid who goes into a class room and kills 8 people after playing doom, not the medias

The issue of sex in America is a subject of some distress to me. It is often portrayed as naughty for people to talk about, or when it does show up it is portrayed as mainly whorish. Women are portrayed as ****ty sex symbols but children (hell, even some adults) are not being taught about sex the way they should be.
Abstinence is a popular teaching method but not enough people are informed about protection methods. Shying away from the subject only makes young people want to experiment more. Unfortunately, since they are afraid of talking to their parents, they don't understand basic things involving safe sex, oral sex, etc. Even on this site I am disturbed by things such as "the pull-out method always works for me!". I think education is the key to making sex a non-tabboo subject. For those mature and informed, sex can be a wonderful thing, it shouldn't always be portrayed as scandalous.
