Would the world be better off if there were no guns?

I don't mean if they were suddenly all gone, I mean if they were ever invented, the idea of firearms was never concieved in anyone's mind, no Rifles, no Guns, no Cannons......

you think if the closest thing we had to guns was a bow and arrows that there would still be wars like we have seen?

It's interesting, in Superman: For Tomorrow, he went to a Middle Eastern country that was at war and took away all their guns, then the people started throwing stones at each other.

Violence and war is a part of mankind. Guns or no guns.

Yeah...war to me just seems like a big blown up tribal territorial thing, more then anything.

If you shoot an arrow and miss, the stray arrow will get stuck in a wall. If you shoot a bullet and miss, that stray bullet could plow through a couple of walls and hit somebody.

I don't care if mankind is naturally violent. Stray arrows and rocks don't have the same amount of danger as stray bullets.

trust me, if there were no guns, we would have invented much more effective arrows by this point

Look at the wars where the arsenal was only arrows and swords. They were just as disgusting and brutal as the battles that are fought now.

Guns are more humane than knives even, a lot of people say that getting slashed with a knife is one of the most painful things ever.
