Here are some more entertaining fan CGI Thundarr bits off of You Tube.

I have been reading a lot of threads on making '80s cartoons and TV shows into movies on here lately, and have noticed a lot of people mentioning a Thundarr movie. I just figured I'd remind everyone that this thread is here.

I would love to see a Thundarr the Barbarian movie. After watching it on Boomerang recently, I would love it. Gemini must be the Villian!!!!

Only if they were to skip the origins story and write it as though everyone in the audience knows what the hell is going on (which few people born after 1980 would). In the origins lore I've read, Thundarr and Ookla were enslaved by Ariels's step father Sabian. There's never any mention of what he looks like, but I've always figured he must've been the helmetted wizard conjuring the green demon in the opening credits. But they may decide to do a complete rewrite and make Gemini Thundarr and Ookla's master in order to appeal to those who remember the show. Personally I think Gemini should be saved for the sequel.

You know you are right about that. I would like to see the origin of Thundarr and friends and save Gemini for the sequel. I just liked him as a vision visually.

But as I've said before, often screenwriters take certain liberties with the original story for the film. They very well could rewrite the history and make Gemini Ariel's step father. Or they could keep Ariel's step father's name as Sabian and just make him look and sound like Gemini. Personally I think using Gemini in the sequel is the better idea. But when does Hollywood ever listen to the people who actually want to see the movies?

I've been writing a Thundarr fan fiction. I call it Thundarr The Barbarian And The Lost Children. It's a crossover story where Thundarr, Ariel, and Ookla meet the kids from the Dungeons & Dragons animated series. I've recently posted it on the Fandom Come board. Take a look if you like. I think you'll probably enjoy it. Send me a PM and tell me what you think. You can find it here...

Here's an interesting site I've stumbled across recently. Aparently a Thundarr fan (I'm guessin from Spain or Mexico because the site is mostly in Spanish) decided to Photoshop some posters for a Thundarr movie. They actually look pretty cool, and some of his casting choices aren't bad (Peter Weller as Gemini? I could see that). Anyway, here's the link.

For those of you who have been reading my fan fic Thundarr & The Lost Children I've finally gotten over my writers block and have finished Chapter 8. So go ahead and read it. With luck I'll be able to finish the story this week.

I've just finished Chapter Nine of my fan fic and even added a picture of the wizard Sabien (or at least who I always thought was supposed to be the wizard Sabien). Go ahead and check it out.

DEMON DOGS!™
The Thundarr The Barbarian Drinking Game*

Take a sip every time…

·A wizard says “barbarian” in a snide or demeaning way.
·Thundarr discovers something is impervious to his Sunsword
·You first hear Henry Corden’s “Fred Flintstone Voice” emanating from a secondary character
·Thundarr throws a woman over his shoulders and carries/rescues her
·You see or hear a U.S. or other modern world city name
·You see a ruined national monument
·The three heroes are shown mounting or dismounting their horses
·Ookla growls his trademark “Grararrararaar!”

Take a drink every time…

·You see footage of the heroes racing towards you on their horses and jumping over some obstacle in their way…
·You see a Mok other than Ookla
·Ariel makes a reference to something from “Old Earth” or the “Ancient World”
·Ookla breaks something he’s examining or holding out of curiosity
·Ariel jokes in the face of impending danger
·Thundarr chastises Ariel for joking in the face of impending danger
·Thundarr loses his Sunsword
Note: Double drinks for everyone if Thundarr has lost the Sunsword but it still appears on his bracer when he’s standing around or looking for it

Take a big chug every time…

·Thundarr says “Demon Dogs”
·Thundarr says “Lords of Light”
·Thundarr says “Ariel! Ookla! Riiiiide!”
·Thundarr says “Ariel! Ookla! To the horses!”
·Thundarr says “Ariel! Ookla! Into Battle!”
·Thundarr sounds his battle cry “Yaaaaa - He!”
Note: In each of these “big chug” instances, you must thump your chest after drinking and repeat the line loudly in your best barbarian voice!

Finish the rest of your beer every time…

·Thundarr encounters Tai, the swamp urchin
·Thundarr encounters Gemini, the Wizard
·Someone travels through time to 1980’s earth
Note: You only need to finish your beer once per episode when you discover any of the above statements are true

I've finished Chapter 12 of my fan fic. I think Chapter 13 will be the last chapter of that particular story. Once I'm done I'll get started on my other Thundarr fan fic, a sequel to Treasure Of The Moks I've entitled Return Of The Pirate Queen.

Here's something I would love to do if I were a better artist. I would take the classic 1977 Star Wars movie poster (you know, the one where Luke's holding his lightsaber up into the air with Leia looking all sexy and Vader's helmet up in the sky), and rework the art to turn it into a Thundarr movie poster. I'd redraw Luke as Thundarr, give the lightsaber a gold crosspiece, redraw Leia as Ariel, redraw Vader as Gemini, turn The Deathstar into the broken moon, replace 3PO and R2 with Ookla, and replace the Star Wars logo with Thundarr The Barbarian. There you go, instant Thundarr movie poster.

You can also do the same thing with The Beastmaster movie poster.

Just make Dar look like Thundarr, Kiri look like Ariel, replace Ruh with Ookla, and make the blade of the sword appear to be made out of flam. Then maybe the giant spy ring in the background could be replaced with Gemini's face.

My Thundarr fan fic is finally finished, 13 chapters. For those of you not in the know, I've been writing a fan fic called Thundarr The Barbarian & The Lost Children, a crossover story in which the kids from the Dungeons & Dragons animated series finally make it home only to find out they arrived much later than intended and meet Thundarr, Ariel, and Ookla. Check it out.

I've also just started a story called Return Of The Pirate Queen, a sequel to the episode Treasure Of The Moks. Hope you enjoy them.

Ok. Ariel is Chinese so please try not to just pick any random Asian person. Try to pick someone who looks enough like her. While we're on that subject I saw someone pick Kelly Hu. I think she's an excellent choice. Perhaps a bit of air brushing to make her a bit darker.

I see Gemini is a popular choice for the villain. You guys sure you don't want to through Zogar in their for some good Barbarian vs. Barbarian action? Not as a replacement but just an extra antagonistic character.

I try to pick someone who's (a) Asian, (b) a good actress, (c) has a recognizable name (not a really big name necessarily, just a known one). That's why my two top picks for Ariel are Kelly Hu and Kristina Kruek.

That's an interesting idea. Have Zogarr as the wizard's #1 henchman. However as much as I'd love to see a live action variation of Gemini, I think the better choice for the main villain is Ariel's stepfather Sabien. Do the origins story for the movie, then if it's successful enough to warrant a sequel make Gemini the villain in Thundarr The Barbarian Part 2

By the way, I have no idea as to whether or not the wizard in that picture from the opening credits from Thundarr is in fact Sabien. However since he was never used in any of the episodes, I work my fan fictions under the assumption that he is, and that this scene of him conjuring a demon is from Thundarr's backstory. Just as the scene of Thundarr breaking his chains and throwing one of the mutant slavers across the room was.
