Question for an atheist!

Do you have a soul?

I have always wondered what atheists think about the "Human soul".

A) The only common belief held by all Atheists is that there is no God. Past that, you can get any number of animals.

B) I am a former Atheist, and at the time believed that there was no soul.

Isn't it proven that people loose 28 grams at the time of death and some people think that is the soul leaving the body...I don't know though.

a) As in "god" from the bible/koran? Animals?? What?

A) "God" is the title given to one supreme deity, Atheists believe that there is no "God", it doesn't matter what Holy Book says what

a) So Atheists truly believe that when they die. They just stop. They don't feel anything anymore. Experience anything anymore. Just...like unplugging a tv?

A) Personally, yes, that's what I believed, but that is not indicaive of all Atheists (just because there is no God, does not mean there is no Atheist). I would put money down that the vast majority of Atheists bought into that.

B) It didn't really bother me, I mean, it wasn't like I had lost something. It's like not being able to fly, you kinda wish the contrary was true, but it's no big deal.

I'm an atheist so I'll answer. Just keep in mind that "atheism" as a spiritual belief has no central think tank like, say, the Vatican, and so it varies strongly from person to person.

Do I believe in a soul that is the embodiment of all my consciousness and personality that lives on after death? No.

Do I believe that I have a consciousness that encompasses all my thoughts and desires, and that all sentient beings possess one as well? Yes.

That's probably as straight an answer as you can get.

b) I don't understand how someone could..I mean seriously think they are nothing. To me saying you have no soul is saying you are nothing. I would be the same..as a toaster..or a car. I'm baffled.

At thae time I wondered how people could actually believe in a God, soul, and afterlife, it's hard to imagine either side from the other.

So in essence you have a soul while you're alive. And it simply stops when you die. Correct?

And if so? Where is your soul then? What is it made of?

Ohh don't get me wrong. I'm in limbo on this and will remain there till I die. Of that I'm sure. I will never get an answer. On matters like these nothing is a fact.
