Since purchasing the new animated "Iron Man" dvd, I have searched for others reviews of the film, but haven't found very much. I'm always interested to hear other people's opinions. Personally, I was incredibly dissapointed with this latest attempt, hoping that the live action film will not reflect upon it. First off, he came across more like Robot Man than Iron Man. The Iron Man I know actually wears his armor, the armor doesn't wear him. Tony was a spoiled rich man's brat! The story was long, drab and "boring"! Worst of all? "The Mandarin". I mean, Iron Man's greatest foe reduced to some sort of spirit?? "YAWN"! Yet another great Marvel character shot to hell. Either way, I still have high hopes for the live action film. Maybe before filming they'll watch this animated attempt and learn what not to do. Any other views of this dvd are welcome.

I enjoyed it for what it was but I agree with you that the live action film should not follow the line in this movie. It should follow the comics more closely. The original grey suit doesn't fly, he had to walk back to civilization. And he certainly wouldn't have had repulsers from the begining as well. I heard that in the film they may be going with some sort of flame-thrower for the offensive weapon he has while in captivity and that makes much more sense to me. Flight and repulsers don't come until he gets back and has sophisticated enough equipment to make them.

I personally thought it was the best MARVEL animated film with Lions Gate to date.

I was debating on getting it at Best Buy. It looked OK from the trailers. But I'm leery after the whole Ultimate Avengers debacle.

It blew major chunks.
Luckily, everything I've heard about the live-action movie makes me think it'll be a thousand times better. I mean, we know they're gonna keep the origin faithful. We know they're grounding it more in realism, so no lame elementals and spirits and crap. They cast Gwyneth Paltrow, so Pepper should have a much bigger role, which hopefully means Iron Man will be spending more time in the States than off in China or wherever.

I liked it a lot and agree with Tempest, then again I was never into the IM comics. If you're a huge fan of the comics, you'll be disappointed.

I enjoyed it, it was much better than both Ultimate Avenger films, it will be out done by future Marvel animated movies.
I've said that if you don't know the first thing about Iron Man this is a great movie, if you know alot about Iron man than you'll be disappointed. Overall, I enjoyed it and bought it, I gave it a 7 out of 10. |

Meh to Ok. It appears clearly that this cartoon takes WAY too much liberty diverting from canon.
Marvel MUST closely oversee its next animated projects! |

Well, they could put in Afghanistan or some other conflict. But my biggest peeve is the Mythological background and its inability to stay abreast with modern (read: armor) materials.

I really liked it. I thought it was a pretty good story.
I am also a huge fan of the comics, but unlike most people I understand that it would be idiotic to make a movie that is an exact copy of the comics. Im glad when they change it up it's nice to see different stories instead of the exact same thing over, and over again. Also I don't think Tony came off anymore spoiled in this than he is in the comics.

In my opinion, I thought it was the best Marvel animated movie to date. Alot better than the Hellboy animated cartoon which was released during that same time. Given, it was slow in some parts, downright boring in others but it is still the best Marvel animation yet. The Doctor Strange sneak peek looked pretty awesome. I look forward to seeing it as well.

while not being a GREAT movie, it is the best to come from Marvel's new animation-straight-to-DVD department. i rather enjoyed it. but then, i've never really read a lot of Iron Man books (just Avengers, New Avengers and the Ultimates), so my liking of the film has nothing to do with comparing it to the source material.

I wasn't too keen on it, the story takes a while to build up , they did do a fairly nice job of telling the origin story though.

I was thinking of renting it as I've become interested in IronMan.
