Default Ghost Rider DVD Discussion

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=10378

There was brief discussion of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe DVD, the King Kong DVD, and others. They indicated the DVDs were in the works at the moment for Seinfeld, Ghost Rider, Underworld: Evolution, a Cary Grant boxed set, "James Bond," Kingdom of Heaven, Superman Returns, Domino, XXX: State of the Union, Stealth, and more. They mentioned An Evening with Kevin Smith 2 is being worked on (shot in London and Toronto), the "Mallrats 10th Anniversary DVD," and a "Blue Thunder Special Edition". It was also hinted that an X-Men 2.5 DVD might be in the works before the upcoming X-Men 3 film release.

Knowing that they're going to make an X-men 2.5 pisses me off. I hate it when they do that, especially seeing there can't me much more to add to it... besides some previews for the X3 movie. Damn them.

Workin' on Ghost Rider already eh? That's pretty exciting... but why the heck are they doing that now? Perhaps they're just mentioning all the contracts they have.

This is definitely going to become the new trend. Studios know that DVD sales can sometimes bring in more than the worldwide box office, so Special Edition DVDs are all over the place.

I fully expect one day to watch a special feature on a DVD where there's home video footage of some writer at home in his underwear who looks at the camera and says, "I just got a great idea for a script. It's called 'Thumper Pickle in August.' Okay, now I'm about to write the summary down for the first time." He'll go to the kitchen table and scribble the idea down on a note pad and then place the notepad into an airtight container. "Okay, now I'll hang on to that and sell it on eBay once 'Thumper Pickle in August' hits the big screen." And then the video will literally follow the production from inception to opening night.

But don't get me wrong, I love those DVDs. And I'm glad that they're thinking along those lines for Ghost Rider.

I hope when they release it, they have a history of the character doc like they did with Spider-Man and Hulk.

The big question that myself and many folks have been wondering is, will there be a special edition that's harder-hitting than the theatrical cut?

MSJ Did a Daredevil Director's Cut.
I'd imagine if the company/studio forces a lot of changes on what he wanted to do...like FOX did with Daredevil, he'll later produce a DC Version.

Well, about the X-men 2.5, if they add the sentinel they planned to have in the movie it could be fine...
And for GR, i hope there's no need of DC versions...^^;

LoL. You're totally right about that. Soon, the DVD makers will be more involved that the actual Movie makers.

I think we should wait and see the first one first. Don't assume the theatrical cut won't be hard hitting. You can still do a lot with PG 13.

I hope there's some sort of comic history involved on the DVD as well... and it better be a 2 disk set.

Default No theatrical release? Straight to DVD?!?

That's what a buddy of mine who works at Blockbuster says. Not sure if this was just a rumour but has anyone heard anything like this?

Thanks!

ROTFLMBO!

I've never seen a DVD release movie advertised in a theater!

Seed Of Chucky had posters/trailers out and then ended up going DTV ...but I seriously doubt a big budget movie with an A-Lister like Cage and a hottie like Mendez is going to go straight to video

Actually Seed of Chucky did make it to theaters...for about a month. opened in early Nov 04 and left in late Dec 04 at least it did here in the US.
agreed though that it would be a huge HUGE embarrassment if GR went DTV....would think more than 1 person involved in production would have a hard time getting projects or work if that happened.

this person's friend at Blockbuster might be thinking of Man Thing. that went straight to video and is also another of Marvel's horror characters.

Well, if this movie did go straight to dvd we'd at least get to own it quicker.

And did you really have to remind us of the travesty that was Man-Thing, BG?

The Man-Thing movie was not bad, but it was not good either. Pretty generic storyline that took away from the original character I grew up reading. That was the real disappointment.

The DVD is not much better than what was shown on SciFi.

i still need rent the uncut version of MT on netflix before i can make a full decision on it. im pretty lenient on horror/monster movies IF they deliver on certain areas...monster designs, action, gore, female nudity . the acting in MT was just ...outright embarrassing at times, strayed too much from the comic and there were not enough scenes showing the monster. the monster design however was cool and i liked how they shot the creature scenes near the end.
but that stuff doesnt help just how badly this movie was mishandled..Avi should have kept a better eye on how it was being put together.
but anyway....thats a different topic altogether..heh

I didn't think so, but you should give it a once over and rent it, see what you feel about it.

I made the mistake of just outright buying the dvd. Used.
