Basically, it gives life to any piece of electronic equipment. Hence Frenzy being a CD player that transforms.

The idea of the Allspark came from Vector Sigma in the original cartoons.

Vector Sigma was a device of unknown origin found at the center of Cybertron. It gave the robots life, which allowed them to rebel against the quintissons, who are their orginal creators.

Well you see, first you have to install it on a current operating system, then you must reboot, now if you get a bluescreen, Decepticons! But if it boots up properly, then it's Autobot time.
Do a barrel roll!

I believe the Allspark was a Beastwars/Machines concept they decided to port over to the movie rather loosely.

Well in the comics the Allspark was the enity that Primus was divided from. The Allspark from the movie is basicaly a combination of the Matrix of Leadership and the plasma energy chamber.

It's a dumb way to remove the eco undertones of Transformers... because Michael Bay is neocon (it's a fact) and he wouldn't be caught dead making a topical and relevant movie about machines that like to injest fossil fuels.
In the comic, the Creation Matrix / Allspark was always second fiddle in terms of importance compared to the harvesting of natural resources (who cares about making babies when you can't feed them). In the cartoon, it wasn't even a part of the plot at all. |

Basicly they just lifted the Vector Sigma/Creation Matrix concepts from cartoon and Marvel Comics respectivly: the entire idea that a single artifact is responsible for the sentience of the Transformers.

Anyone remember the G2 cube they used to spice up the cartoon transitions when they rereleased the G1 cartoon and called it G2? In my locale, the FOX intro went something like this: "And now, with the power of the something cube, we bring you the legendary stories of the Transformers." I found the following clip on youtube and I forgot how close it resembles the scenes I've seen of the Allspark heading to Earth. Inspiration for the visuals of the movie? I don't know, just something neat I couldn't keep in my own head. If this has been discussed already, just ignore it. I searched the threads but found nothing talking about it, unless it was done last year.

The Allspark is essentially the Matrix from the comics and or Vector Sigma from the cartoon. Also within it is a reference to Beast Wars/Beast Machines. The term "Allspark" was in reference to the fact that "all of the sparks" of Transformers who had come before them resided in the Allspark.

In the comic the Matrix is front and center. Rarely, if ever, did stories center around the search for fuel...in fact the comics had them leave Cybertron to clear an asteroid belt, not in search of fuel.

he's referring to the animated series Transformers: Generation 2 which consisted of the original Generation 1 episodes with new computer generated title sequences and scene transitions.

It even featured a new, more violent comic written by Simon Furman. ![]() The animated program was simply a redux of the Generation 1 program, complete with the "Cybernetic Space Cube", which replaced the Traditional rotating TF symbols as bumpers between scenes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_2 |

Why did the allspark essentially only create decepticons when energy was shot out through it?
Also why wouldnt the allspark repair BumbleBee's voice box, when it repaired Frenzy's entire body? I thinking the allspark is pure evil, considering Prime wanted to destroy it |
