I wasn't expecting Capone to come to the rescue I'm so excited next week can not come soon enough.

What a tour de force of an episode from the very beginning! Easily the best episode of the season so far, which was helped by no Margaret (and I assume no Margaret next week either).
For a moment I thought Chalky and Purnsley had given up Nucky when they stopped the truck. I'm glad Chalky stayed loyal, but you couldn't have blamed him had he not. I think Chalky saw the same thing that Rothstein did earlier in the season i.e. Rosetti is way too much of a nut job to do business with. Hence Chalky's too old to make new friends remark. The episode really had me on the edge until the very end, my heart even sank when Eli said "no...with him" when Nucky asked had he made a deal with Torrio....was expecting Gyp to walk out of the crowd rather than Capone.

best episode of the series i think. the opening was intense with Nucky escaping the hotel and gunning down Gyp & Maseria's goons. looks like Harrow is not leaving without Tommy without a fight. sucks that the season finale is next week though.

I just wonder how they are going to wrap all this up in just one episode. They have a lot of lose ends to cover up and I do wonder if we are going to be left with a cliffhanger ending.

I concur with the others who have said this is the best episode so far. From the very beginning it was intense, exciting, suspenseful and just plain gripping from scene to scene. Can't wait until next Sunday.

I've wondered that about the past two and yet each time the writers found a convincing and satisfying way to tie up the loose ends while also leaving me wanting more.

Well if he doesn't at least the actor has those Guinness Black Lager commercials to fall back on.

I actually disagree about this- I thought last season did most of the heavy lifting in the 2 episodes leading up to the finale, and the final episode was just a nice cap off to it all- perfectly planned and executed. The first season I thought built up amazingly well only to totally drop the ball in the final episode, I remember being incredibly bored and dissappointed by it. This final one looks to be a doozy though, certainly the most action packed and with so much going on.

Just got done with the last episode, holy crap that was intense. The entire episode I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the worst to happen. Also, I think Gyp Rosetti is up there with my favorite all time villains.

Definitely a great episode. Richard's getting ready to go all taxi driver on gillian and the gyp gang, can't wait.
I was really worried we were going to lose eddie too. Had no idea i had such an attachment to the character til it seemed like he might be killed. |

Yeah i was sort of wondering where eddie's devotion to nucky came from though? I mean nucky often insults him and obviously didn't care enough about him to know if he even had a family.
I wonder if nucky ever did something for eddie to warrant such devotion as to put his life on the line? |

I always thought Eddie was the reverse Alfred until this episode, he got some great character development. I've always liked him ever since season 1.

Chalky should get some credit too. Especially after Nucky snubbed him.
Though everyone can see that Gyp is an unstable sociopath. |

This episode was actually the first time I've liked and rooted for Nucky this season as it felt like the old Nucky, the guy who was involved in shady business but remained a thoroughly decent person. As for Gyp, it seems like the walls are closing in on him. It's almost too easy now with Capone behind Nucky and Harrow making a bee line for the brothel. Something tells me that Gyp has one last ace in the hole.

I'm watching the first season. Quick question. So Nucky wants to build some road, but he needs Wally to give him the money, but Wally gives it to Hague, because Wally owns a paving company? Also, what's the difference between backing Hague over Nucky? They're both in Jersey, no?
