Greeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaat.

Really couldn't tell which way the fight between Dunn and Chalky was gonna go. I'm very glad Purnsley be done though.

I am wondering though, does anyone believe the Doc told Daughter to kill Purnsley in order to lull Chalky into a false sense of security, or did she stray from the plan to let Purnsely kill Chalky? I don't know... Could go either way.

I have to agree, I really wasn't sure either. I was definitely expecting what's her name to stab someone, but even who that would be was uncertain.

Why couldn't Eli just murder those Feds...?

Probably because he realizes they're just the first of many, and killing them would only make things escalate.

At least, that's my guess. Eli seems smarter than most people on the show give him credit.

"Meant to become"?

Van Alden always was a badass, it's that the writers had him turn into a huge vag since season 3.

This change was long overdue.

Aren't they going to go after him for the money? Or did the killers not know it was there? I find it hard to believe he could just grab all that and have no one notice.

If anything, I feel that Eli's son will be the one to bite the dust, and that despite the choice Eli made (his son over Nucky), Eli still loses him.

They didn't kill O'Banion for the money in the till, they killed him because he needed to get got. The money in the till was small potatoes anyway. With Van Alden taking the money though, it'll appear to just be a straight up robbery.

Alden took a thousand dollars, That's more than the daily till. But you may be right about them not caring. Though if Capone sent his own guys to finish the job, he may harass Van Alden anyways for being unable to do what he promised.

so wonderful...

Is Livingston trying to screw over heroin mcwhore?

Nice to see the BA Van Alden back, can't wait for the parallel of the Chalky and Capone wars to start. Also, loved Richard... he can be pretty clever sometimes. Love that he's going to be Nucky's one man army.

Haven't seen anyone mention Rothstein recently. If you know how the real-life Rothstein ended up, it's cool to see how this season is slowly planting the seeds for his demise, as well.

Spoiler Alert:
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
He was murdered after failing to pay a large gambling debt from a fixed poker game.

That's like 8 years from now in Boardwalk time though. I suppose they could move up his demise if they wanted to.

That stuck out to me too. All the Van Alden stuff and Richard returning to what is sure to be a murderous new life was fantastic (and surprising for both to occur in the same episode) but Livingston's brief switch in tone on the phone was particularly interesting. I don't suppose he's planning to kill Jillian, he's gone to far too much trouble already...very curious what the end game is there.

He'll, he helped her from her overdose...

And, he can't even steal her riches because she's broke.

Great episode. Glad to see psycho Van Alden back and Richard as well. Been enjoying all the extra attention Chalky has been getting lately but I was missing the Chicago stuff. Although I must say I never figured those salesmen to actually have the balls to ambush anybody.

And something about Van Alden coming clean with O'Banion was very cathartic.
