If they could match this scene, I'd see the movie every day for a month!

I've always felt that the fight between the FF and Doom in the street at the end was the way a comic book battle should be... I really don't care for the "Batman as Ninja" style fights in BB. The FF movie was more like a Kirby style battle. I know we saw that one still of Michael grabbing Julian by the throat in Empire but I would love to see another Thing vs Doom battle, Kirby style. Jack may not have had done it pretty but he sure had a cinematic style to panels. They never looked posed or static. Can you just imagine a scene with the Thing leaping on the board and have them slugging it out like this? You can really get a sense of the power of the Thing as he rips into those cables.

That would be ... well... fantastic! Especially if Doom's dialogue matches the comic. Quote:
Maybe not jumping off a building to reach Doom, but how about being slingshot from the ground by Reed like they did when they defeated Galactus during Byrne's run? |

Reed needs to have a line that goes something like "Ben, could you please hand me the nanomechanical sub-micronic spectrolyzation protonometer? It's that green doohicky with the pointed tip."

I hear ya Iron Maiden, to see a scene like that in the movie will be unbelievable...to see Doom in his castle, barking orders, have the "Kirby Crackle" around Doom when he is full of the Surfer"s cosmic power

When I said The Thing battling Doom, this is what I was talking about. Something simular to these 2 pages would make me do the happy cat. Hell yea, this is what I'm talking about.

Things that would make me fall off the chair:
- Galactus in the original comic form (not the ultimate version). Just an enourmous purple humanoid. It would be cheesy, but I would still go "HELL YEAH". - Dr. Doom going real megalomaniac. Like Secret Wars style, where he challenges Galactus, defies death and even steals the Beyonder's powers. - Cameo from Anihilus. - And eehm.. Silver Surfer!

Most of the suggestions listed here, were in the first movie or are going to be in the second movie, going from the information we have so far.
Sue exploding some baddie's head with a force bubble, would make me go "Hell, yeah!". However, it's a family movie, so oh well, I'll settle for an Alicia Masters/Sue Storm strip poker match. What? I can't have that either? Fine, I'm boycotting this movie. |

Damn, I want to see the movie you saw....... 1). Doom in the comics was in the first movie???? 2). Ben showed his true power as in the comics, was in the first movie???? 3). The Kirby crackle was in the first movie????? 4). Latveria was in the first movie???? The only thing mentioned so far that was in the first movie, is what Iron Maiden mentioned in the last dual between Ben and Doom..... |

The only comicbook movies that cause that boyish, fanboy grin to creep across my face has been Donner's films and Raimi's films. Those films made no pretense about what they were. From Supermans flying scenes and daring do, to the spectacular display of the wall crawlers agility over the canyons of NYC, the all-out superhero style battles, Peter Parkers personal dilemmas, made me feel like I was watching a comicbook come to life....and that's really all I want. They just felt right.
Doom. The real Doom. Not Julian trying to be Doom--the Doom we all know and love from the comics. MUA Doom. 616 Doom. No substitute, no excuses. Fully blown Doom. The arrogant, genius, regal, charasmatic, tyrant dictator of Latveria. No substitute, no excuses. Fully blown Doom. Part Jeremy Irons, Frank Langella, Darth Vader, etc. DOOM. Galactus. I know I probably shouldn't get my hopes up on this one....Galactus would give this film the huge epic quality it needs. He would also take the film right into big time scifi-fantasy territory. I want this film to make make me feel the same way I feel when watching Donner's and Raimi's films. That same sense of wonder and awe I get from the comics, I want to get from the film. |

Frank Langella would have been an excellent choice for Doom back in his prime...he ended up being Skeletor in a He-Man movie instead.

The slight eroticism he injected into the character was delightfully twisted and wicked. But it would be somewhat out of place for Doom. Ironic, that they can only get Doom right when they're not supposed to be Doom. Good ol Mister Murphy and his laws. |

For all the comic book films we have seen, there are far too few scenes of super-powered good guys mixing it up with super- powered bad guys in epic battles. Superman II was probably one of the best, and, while it didn't live up to it's potential, yes, the brief final battle in FF was pretty cool. . . . but could any film-maker capture the POWER of those images? Is it possible to put something like that on film? I hope someone is tacking some of these great Kirby panels up with the story boards for inspiration.

Amen to that Willie. I agree with you about Superman II and the fight at the end of the FF movie very much reminded me of that and I applaud them for at least making the attempt. I was watching the Superman II movie and it was very obviously a set used for the street fight with General Zod, Ursa and Non(?). They did a lot of location shooting for the FF and they didn't show as much mayhem like in the Kirby panels I posted. But if someone is going to be throwing around the Power Cosmic, we need to see some spectacular results.
