IIRC it was black/purple. A few of them got redesigns for that space episode and despite a colour scheme that shouldn't really have worked for Wolverine - it did. Well, I liked it anyway.

One of my minor gripes with the 90s series was that it didn't change it around enough - from the second episodes to the last, the characters and uniforms remained the same. I would have loved seeing Byrne's Wolverine uniform appear for a few episodes.

Do they explain why he wears the costuime/mask?

I think we all know it was just a superhero trend back in the day and he was following suit when they made him. But throughout the years do they ever hint at why he might wear the costume?

People say he doesnt seem like the type to wear a costume, which I can kind of see. He also doesnt technically "need" it to conceal an identity.

To me the costume is part of the character, and yes it looks cool, but what reason would you give for him wearing one?

The original tiger stripe costume was Canadian government issue when he was being prepped for Alpha Flight. He told Stacy X that when he transferred to the X-Men from Department H that he wore it because he was too afraid to leave a role that everyone was used to seeing him in.

It's been said a few times that putting on the costume gives Logan a psychological boost and advantage. Spider-Man sees a change in Wolverine when he puts it on in SPIDER-MAN VS WOLVERINE and Spidey becomes visibly scared of him. IIRC that was also hinted at in the Archie Goodwin/John Byrne WOLVERINE arc but I'd have to check.

thanks man for posting that much appreciated.

i always thought he wore it for psychological reasons too. he reminds me of this feral demon, almost looking possessed when he wears the blank eye costume. its scary to think your last images of life will be a short man in a funny looking costume, ripping your guts out with metal claws. i think wolverine is just psycho like that to wear a costume while he guts the bad guys. contrary to the movies, i feel like wolverine is much darker person...like a bad guy who just happens to be fighting on the side of good.

also it reminds me of war paint. why do the tribes where lots of war paint going into battle? for the boost, the intimidation, etc etc. the reason why wolverine wears a mask to me is similar to the joker in dark knight. the joker wasnt able to be identified, and he didnt "need" to wear his joker make up to conceal an identity. yet he wore anyway because hes effed up. wolverine is more effed like that than ppl think...just his new comics make him seem like mr. nice guy

That would be the Lupine arc in Wolverine written by Jeph Loeb with art by Bianchi. I believe it was #50-#55 of his current solo series. The art was wonderful:

He made Wildchild look awesome:

Am I the only one that totally *loooved* the first story in this week's Wolverine, "A Mile in his Mocassins"?

The first story was good, I am not so sure about the second one. I didn't like the art as much as the first one. Plus I like Logan with Yukio anyhow. She's so fearless.

I was actually thinking about her (Yukio). How did she ever get back the ability to walk after her back was broken by Deathstrike in "Logan Files"? I know we've seen her a couple times since then, but was that ever explained?

But yeah, the second one wasn't quite so strong. To tell you the truth, I'm just plain not a fan of Wolverine's son. I've tried, but I just keep coming back to the 'why' of it all. Wasn't X23 enough? We had to throw Daken and Romulus into the mix.

I miss the days when Wolverine was an independent, (relatively) non-manipulated fellow with a devil-may-care attitude. I really do.

I'm a bit behind on my Yulio lore. I have no clue how she is walking again. Maybe she has a really good health plan.

I don't mind Daken -- for now. He's a bit more like how Logan used to be, not really giving a crap. I like X23 too. Guess I have a weakness for my ferals. I like them all.

Her next appearance was in X-TREME X-MEN, and her recovery was off-panel.

Thanks. I guess I'm going to have to go track that down and review. I really liked her, back in the day.

Me, too. She made more sense to me as a lover than Mariko did. Yuriko looked like she was a lot of fun.

I think you mean Yukio. But yeah--I totally agree. I like Mariko, but she didn't have much on-page character development.

I always wondered what they talked about on their dates . . . .

I have a feeling that by the time they do it's going to be most painfully anti-climatic, just because of all the build up.

Soon, I hope. Soon . . . .
