Read #56 and have a couple of questions --

1. Where exactly does this six week absence fit into current continuity with Astonishing and Avengers?

2. Wouldn't somebody have noticed he was gone and sent the cavalry looking for him?

So, Wolverine was one of my favourite characters, when I used to read comics (more then now), and still is. But isn't he kinda carved to the bone already? His mysterious past has been reveald pretty much completely. There isn't much of a mystery left in him, or is there? I think they should have never explained him completely. What do you think?

There's a lot of stories left to be told going back. There are some big gaps in time between the original Origins mini and present day.

Yeah, but his origins is very much clear now. We got to see his teenage angst and everything. That's not cool, they should have let his past stay vague. Only hints, nothing solid. That way the reader could use his own imagination. But what do I know.

Whedon and Bendis have said that their stories, (compared to a lot of other wirters,) on these books are not only extremley decompressed, but only take place over a few days. Once the stories are finished, it can easiy and up fitting in continuity as it's a short space of time on the timeline.

That's really true. The whole 'mysterious past,' with the EXACT SAME clues again and again got VERY boring. Now all the loose ends are being tied up, and new, (more intruiging,) mysterious are being revealed.

The 90's, (when the whole Logan government cover up,) story was most popular was very good at it's time. Saying that though, the whole 'government distrust paranoia,' was very much a staple of 90's pop culture. Just look at The X-Files.

Not that it can't work now, but to soley use that plot device has become really stale.

What we have now is a different mystery, built on the same mythology, as well as cleaning up the old mythology.

That's my view

The latest ish of Wolvie rocked by the way, and we're getting more and more insight to how twisted Romulous is, and how he, (for some reason,) just likes to test Wolvie.

But what I love is that by no means is the main part of the story. Was one heck of a fill-in ish. Just like the old days!

I was happy to see Wild Child again. Not as cool as Sabes but he'll do.

I know what you mean. But I guess we should give it time, you never know how good Wild Child will be.

I wish I could just say, 'Oh well, at least we have Ultimate Sabes,' but Ultimate Sabertooth doesn't hold a candle to 616 Sabes.

I think Loeb did a kick ass job at showing how ruthless, scary, and vile, 616 Sabertooth really is/was.

I don't know who was doing teh writing for Weapn X off the top of my head, but he got kinda creepy in there too. At one point they go to Sabes apartment and find a child in his closet, a late night snack for later....

Loeb I think did a really good job when Wolvie sliced off his head. The dialogue is great, as you feel kinda bad for Sabes, as does Wolvie, but then Wolvie points out all the people he's killed and then you remember this is a good thing.

S**T that dude was evil...

Innocent victims of Sabertooth =/= The normally deserving victims of Wolverine

Oh and Sabertooth's claim to fame is raping and murdering Wolverine's wife and cutting the baby out to give to Romuls... ON WOLVERINE'S BIRTHDAY.

Yea, true. But it can be eaasily explained that Creed did this to Logan because of Romulous, so Wild Child will just do the same to Wolvie as well

I hope to see you here. Happy hunting.

*sniff* It reminds me of the good old days of pawing through many a dusty box on the grimy floor of some old shop, looking for treasure...

LOL Squeek...
I decided finding all the wolvie comics would be easier than collecting all the x-men comics. I saw the very first x-man comic going for over $300. And knowing they went for a long time before starting over at 1 at Uncanny x-men I decided I'd rather collect a different series.

So, since I love Wolverine so much i decided why not collect him? I need to find out about that mini series did you say 82?? Gotta find the Hulk comic where Wolverine was first introduced also

Thanks for the PM squeek. Gonna print out your pm's with all the great info

You're very welcome. Wish I had someone helping me way back.

Good luck getting an original copy of Wolverine/Hulk, but there are reprints around. The four part mini from '82 is good, plus there is a six part Wolverine/Kitty Pride mini from '84 you might also want.

It's always thrilling to have a new villian. I like that they aren't giving him to us all at once. Draws out the suspense.
