I don't like the pic at all,it looks like a zombie with the flesh ripped off it's mouth.

Well, it's not a smile... that's the thing?
I like the pic, regardless. It's ****ing scary... I don't care what I grew up with at the moment, it's called change. Roll with it. All it needs for me is some green hair, and a wicked grin. |

To be honest I was hoping for something similar to Pieeye's rendering. This is really disturbing, perhaps too disturbing. I don't know. IMO it's "wait and see". I hope it works in context to the rest of the film.

This does not instill with one bit of hope at all. It looks like Heath Ledger has been on a stag night and his friends have put make up on him while he was asleep. It reminds me of the ideas fans were spinning about him looking realistic and have cut his own mouth open for a grin. I feel like I've been kicked in the balls. The dark, sunken eyes look good though.
I know it's supposed to represent his insanity but it just looks like make up. Is he like Frank Miller's Joker in that his skin is white but he puts on the lipstick? All I can see when I look at it is the English flag. ![]() I have to admit the marketing of TDK is class so far. Love the new logo and the Dent/Joker sites have been quality except for the horrible photoshopping on Eckhart. I'm sorry to say that I'm starting to worry about this film.....

I think the picture would have had better reception if he were smiling, with the lips more thin and red than they are and showing us a bit of green hair.

Still not sure about the picture. I always thought Joker physically at first looked like creepy, yet harmless clown, with no signs of being screwed up until he speaks, smiles, or so forth. This Joker looks f****d up from the moment you see him with the scarring. If not for the scarring and the smeared on lipstick I'd be probably be jumping on this one.

I'm actually really happy with the look, and I'm glad he doesn't look like he always has in the comics, TAS, etc. Sure, I love the way he looked in those, but I always love seeing a new take on an old character. Plus, I think some people are overreacting because until we see a complete image of him (hair, face, clothing, and all), it's hard to tell what he will look like on screen. But for now, I'm happy.

What? How can you say it's not The Joker from a single image? Characters change, ya know... Their faces, their images change. I see The Joker. Honestly, add some green hair to it, plant a wicked smile on it, and call it a day. Any experienced Photoshoppers?

this is closer to the actual thing than Scarecrow was. And I really dug the new Scarecrow, and I am digging this too. I can't wait for more.

Sucks. Big time.
Being a Nolanite, it hurts me to say that. But I love the Joker as a character more than any single movie, and that...is not the Joker. I don't make snap judgments, but the pic was given to us to judge on some level, right? You have to form your opinions from something. Begins? Awesome. The sides? Awesome. The casting? Awesome. This hack-job of a face? Not awesome. Yeah, I get it. Different. Change is good. Blah, blah. The change for Scarecrow was great; he still felt like the Scarecrow. The most important part is retaining that vibe. This does not give me a Joker vibe. Hopefully Ledger's performance will pick up the slack.

Well I'm mixed on this I like that they may be doing something different with the Joker but this picture isn't really exciting too me . It looks sloppy to me honestly . It's still early I'm open for anything .I'll reserve final opinion till we see other pictures.

This whole thing, was sorta like Christopher Nolan gave all of his Batfans a Christmas present. And we all have to unwrap it to see what the whole thing is. If we wanted a pic of the Joker, we had to work for it. I also bet that the Nolan brothers are thinking that us Batfans are pathetic or very true to the Batman movies, that we managed to pixelate the photo in almost one day. I had two email addresses I used for this thing. Do you think we suprised Nolan in getting the picture so fast? Oh yeah, isn't it ironic how Ledger said that look is "more about the eyes" and in the first photo, his eyes are shut?
My opinion on the photo... eh I just don't like the painted smile. The Joker's facial appearence is what I wanted to remain true to the comics. From what I hear, I don't like the fact that "he" paints the make up himself. I had no problem with the cut smile. Honestly, this picture looks like a drunk circus performer putting on make up in the dark. The picture of Joker with the color palette is looking pretty good about now...

That Joker pic, even though reveals a lot of the character's face, is still pretty much a tease. Until we see a more complete image, I'll be holding out for something like this:
![]() What I am please about now is that it's entirely plausible, because now we know that the design of Nolan's Joker is totally based off of Bermejo's artwork.

Nepenthes makes a good point when he says that the lipstick on his cheeks might not be there the whole time. I hope that's the case.
I'm just happy to actually have some official info about his look. Now we know, for better or for worse, and we all have over a year to accept that the depiction isn't ripped from a Marshall Rodgers drawing or BTAS. With that in mind: I think we have to take it all in its context. The way the picture was revealed might say quite a bit about how the character will act on screen. For me the playing cards, the defaced Harvey picture and the tone of the emails and messages makes this (dramatic) look easier to digest. I thought the reveal itself was very Joker-ish, even if the look will take some getting used to.

My first impression: damn creepy-looking.
My biggest problems are I hope the white face isn't just facepaint that he applies himself, at least not for his "final" look, and I hope he doesn't go around with lipstick smeared sloppily all over his face the whole movie. The slashes on his mouth are more extreme than I was expecting or would prefer, but I need more context to judge. I need to see him grinning, dressed, with green hair, and talking and acting. This just looks like a makeup test shot, something to tantalize us and keep the fanbase excited. It's not enough to base a whole judgment on, in my opinion. |
