ign has a review for the extended cut here.
Who ever reviewed it seemed overly harsh.

Indeed...but i'm used to that now with GR.What would be nice is if the reviewer would detail the new added footage and how it affects the movie.

Thanks for the link btw.

Wait wait, how are u guys getting this early now?

BTW, I found IGN's review of the DVD pretty fair. it does mention that the 6 or 7 minutes of extra footage doesnt really add anything new or anything critical to the movie.

Its all about the extra featurs, I am really eager to watch the documentary on the Spirit of Vengeance and the history of Ghost Rider from comic to film.

I have not watched it in full yet & I will this week. But I flicked through it & I came across this newly added scene. This takes place right after Johnny does the helicopter stunt & it takes place right before he goes after Roxanne. Now we kow what happened to the helmet

Edit - If the gif is not working blame the hosting site I will make it again later tonight

I got it and i skimmed through the first part. So far im finding it better than the theratrical, but disappointing aswell (for e.g: The transformation is not extended and the bar scene is still cut down, when we know theres more stuff shot for it). But i have to say, the alternate Mephisto confronting Blackheart (outside the bar on his own, instead of in the streets with the hidden) was so much better and gave these characters more depth. You clearly see Blackheart is a bit scared of the rider but is still angry ("the power of Hell fire wasted on a pathetic human, when you should've given it to me"). Also the added scenes between Johnny and his Dad gave his character much more depth.

I have yet to watch it in full, but thats my (p)review so far.

Just finished watching it. Here is my review:

Theratrical Cut: 6/10

Extended Cut: 8/10

The extended cut in my opinion is a better movie. There may not be much stuff added, but what is added removes most of the "wtf" feeling you got from watching the Theratrical. For instance, the cops have more evidence against Blaze and there is a reason why Wallow "pops out of nowhere" when Blaze is heading to San Venganza , but no solid reason to why Slade leaves at random.

Im calling this a slight disappointment as footage that we know of being shot, like the longer convo between GR and BH after the Rider's transformation and a longer bar scene (as previously mentioned). So im bracing myself for a 3rd "Directors Super Cut" sometime in the future.

Another thing i noticed in this version were the slight changes of the sound effects used. Sometimes they are improvements, like when Johnny is transforming, when his feet start burning there is a creepy scream emitting from the rider underling Blaze's scream and Blackhearts voice and the hiddens laugh are more creepy. Other times they are for the worse, as Blackhearts scream in the church seems to be changed and lowered, which doesnt give the same impact.

The last 10-15 min is pretty much the same and nothing is added, making the final battle still mediocore, and the real drag down in this version too.

Overall it is a better movie, giving the characters more depth and meaning and emotion, but still fails where the last one did (screwed up ending).

Well if the story flows better in the movie, I' m satisfied. Curiosity, was the arguement between Johnny and Roxane at his place longer in the movie? Felt that was cut when she just ended up driving away. And did they give more of an origin for Caretaker?

Thanks for the info dude. Sounds better just the way you described it. 6-8. That sounds good, not DD-DD: DC good. But, still....

And please guys- HOW ARE YOU GETTING IT ALREADY?!!!

I don't think it can be Walmart like it was for SM2.1 (because they'd have FF1.5 already as well).

I do agree that the reviewer is being way too harsh, though. It's a pretty good movie- not the best- but, it's pretty good.

Im not sure, but i think there were more shots to make the scene betwen Johnny and Roxanne more awkward, but definetly no added dialogue or anything between that scene and her driving away

And no, they didnt give more of an origin for Caretaker

I am 50 / 50 on it now. Like The Ones said there is obviously more footage left out. So somehweer down the lines its obvious that Sony will do another DVD release. So I may hold out. In my opinion this cut was no where as good as Spider-Man 2.1 & that had even LESS new footage then this one & I have no doubt that Sony will do another double dip.

Yes. It takes place at the graveyard where Blackheart beats up Caretaker for the contract.
