Default Rating (PG-13 or R)

So, what do you think? Will Watchmen have PG-13 or R? Yeah, it is brutal, sexual etc. story, but runtime will be probably around 150 minute and budget over 150 milion. So, it is possible that WB will be towards R-rating? It will be an expensive movie and R-rating is a little "restrictive"...

I always assumed that it'd be rated R. That's my guess.

Snyder managed to make a successful R movie in 300, i hope he be given the same leeway.

It needs to be R, frankly.

And for me to call him eccentric I'd have to agree that he was weird.

I'm sure he'll do that Archie comics adaptation right after Watchmen. Have you read 300 and Watchmen?

Well we learned two things about this person:

#1.) Spidey Lover is younger than 18 years of age, and

#2.) Does not know how to sneak into a movie.

Zack is aiming for an R rating. So it will be R.

Why there is discussion over this I am unclear of. Syner was asked what watchmen would be rated. He said R definently. Obviously there is no controversy over what he plans for the film to have. No more discussion over the rating, Snyder has spoken.

R definitely. Snyder has proved he can handle it.

R-rated or PG-13 there will be no blue genitals in the movie. So Manhattan being naked isn't a big deal anymore than the Silver Surfer being "naked".

The street filled with corpses can get a PG-13 rating. War of the Worlds had a creepy scene where a river is filled with dozens of dead bodies.

I love R-rated movies just as much as the next guy but they shouldn't make it R just for the sake of making it rated R. The rating should have artistic merits.

If Zach said the initial release would be PG-13 but a badass, unrated DVD collectors edition was on the way, I'd be cool with that.

Snyder has gone on record saying that he won't do anything but an R-Rated film. So that should be the end of it. And I highly doubt WB will give him a $150 million budget. Just read that interview he did:

http://www.wizarduniverse.com/movies.../004754626.cfm

With his all demands for this Watchmen flick, they won't give him the budget he wants, even though 300 was a major success. WB will still be reluctant.

Yeah, but there are many more moments that call for an r-rating. Some of the events are just very dark. Like Hollis Mason's death or when Rorschach kills the pedophile and the dogs. Then there's the Comedian in Vietnam. Also, the Comedian raping Sally. Its not necessarily the imagery that calls for an R, its more the mature themes throughout the story that just aren't appropriate for 13 year olds. I just can't see a Watchmen film being done right with a pg-13 rating.
