And his new movie is a dark comedy type thing Lars and the Real Girl.

After reading the first 50+ issues of this series, Shia is definitely fit for Yorick. This role requires very precise comedic timing, as on many occasions the jokes are only funny to him.
Shia's more than capable of playing the more serious side of the character, but he also holds that innocent and charming quality to boot. I'm definitely glad he's being considered. |

Not discounting Gosling, but if Shia can show me some deeper chops in Indy IV, I'd be ready to pen him.
But I don't want "Spastic Sam" from TF, playing Yorick.

Pretty much why I'm holding off on Shia.

I recently read all the TPB for Y, and Shia's not a bad choice for Yorick, but I just don't want him to be Yorick. I don't know what it is, cause the bastard has the charisma to play Y. He's got the nerdy, sarcastic thing down, but something just seems off, for me.

They could make it a trilogy (but does it have the potential to captivate a general audience). Y is good but it's not trilogy good. But, as an HBO series would KICK ASS! |

I'd personally prefer Ryan Reynolds for Yorick but I could deal with Shia.
Also, Gina Torres for 355 and Kelly Hu for Dr. Mann. |

i figured that theyl probably start on it AFTER indy 4, and there's preprod, etc. So by the time they actually get to it, he MIGHT look a bit older.. who knows?

Women aren't flocking to Yorick because of his looks, it's more about their desperation to reproduce. Not only is Ryan Renolds not a good actor, but he's also not funny. And in case you've missed his current physique, he's looking more like Carrot Top (00s) than Carrot Top (90s).

It'd be better as an HBO series.
![]() EDIT: Also, Reynolds for Yorick is retarded. Plain and simple. Mainly for the reasons Prog listed above. Fanboys need to stop casting Reynolds in every quirky, funny guy role from any comic related project.

Exactly! only a Spider Jerusalem fan will recognize such truth. Screw Shia LeClown he's ok but he's not Yorick. So Vaughan won't be involved with this project in any way?

Now that's not a bad idea at all!
He's got the chops, and he hasn't been stereotyped by Hollywood mainstream yet.

That's who I was trying to think of... I'm like, man, there's another underrated young brown haired actor trying to indy his way into the mainstream... He's good too...
Gordon-Levitt would OWN as Yorrick? Shia-who? |

Yes!! I'd never thought of him for the role before (because I kinda forgot that he existed) but he'd be perfect...Ugh...Shia better not get cast in this part...because while I think he could play the part decently he is 1.) to young (he's my age, 20, isn't he?) 2.) LeBeouf can do the sarcastic, dorky, funny guy thing but methinks that he's a bit to spastic/all over the place for the role....
But yeah...Joseph Gordon-Levitt...wow...that's about as close to perfect casting as somebody could get... |

The Last Man Found Director eyeing Transformers star for comic adaptation. by IGN Staff US, January 29, 2008 - The final installment of the 60-issue Y: The Last Man comic book series, from Lost writer Brian Vaughn, drops on Wednesday. Fans of the popular Vertigo title are probably already aware that Disturbia director D.J. Caruso is plotting a movie version. But you'll never guess who he's considering for the lead. Okay... maybe you will. Caruso tells USA Today that he's already had "preliminary discussions" with Transformers and Indy 4 star Shia LaBeouf to play Yorick in the movie. LaBeouf starred in Caruso's Disturbia and is currently shooting the thriller Eagle Eye with the helmer. Y: The Last Man tells what happens when every mammal possessing a Y chromosome -- the males -- are mysterious and simultaneously killed. The only exceptions are Yorick Brown, a young amateur escape artist, and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand. - Vertigo"For me, thematically, the most important thing and the reason I want to do this is... I don't want to say it's the end of the innocence, but it's actually a man-child who has to become a real man now," Caruso tells the paper. "I think it's a really simple, beautiful theme, but at the same time, the movie's really pop-culture entertainment." Caruso had planned to make the entire series into a single film, but that task proved as daunting as it seems. As it stands now, the movie will be an adaptation of the first 14 issues of the series, with a two future films possible to complete the story.

I'm glad they're not trying to squeeze the entire story in one film.

Me too. This story has a lot to tell, and the death of almost every male human is epic enough to fill a half, or a third of the movie

Goddamnit Shia should not be playing Yorick. I even like the guy, but he's just all wrong for this role.
