IMO, one of the reasons for the "that's it?" response from some folks is the movies only run roughly 90 minutes.. the movies must be much longer, epic length, to capture the grandeur of the FF's typically fantastic adventures.. the screenwriters of the next film must take care to include plenty of action, but lots of character development as well.. they must not be afraid to let characters talk, and to craft a plot that doesn't just zip along...

I agree that the running time of the movies have been far too short, and that this leaves very little room for the epic feel that Fantastic Four movies deserve. But I don't think forcing the same creative team to just make a longer movie will help.
What's needed is a new creative team, if it's good then the longer running time and epic feel will follow.

Fox is becoming notorious for short runtimes - it means more showings on the opening weekend, no doubt!
And yet X2 managed to exceed two hours, for some bizarre reason. Personally, two hours or a few minutes beyond that is fine. But 2hrs 30mins is too much and 3 hrs is far too much.

A good movie is a good movie, you usually want more of a good thing. anything short of 2 and a half hours really leaves me unsatisfied when I am enjoying myself.
If the movie is a stupid then I really don't care. I have a large appetite for good stuff.

They could try to make a good movie too while they're at it.

2 Hours would be a great runtime and a PG-13 rating would be even better (No more PG kids movie please), but just come up with a good story and make a good film that these superheros deserve.
