That poster is pretty awesome. I don't get the complaints about him being a party guy. The whole partying thing will probably only be the movie for 15 minutes at the most and it'll be neccessary to show his progression from a worthless sack of crap to someone who is making a difference. Rogen while he doesn't quite look the part, I think he'll be pretty good, he can pull off a good dramatic scene when he needs to. I'm mostly lookin forward to the fight scenes with Kato. From the quick snippets it looks like Gondry has been quite inventive with them and how they are shot.

What's sad is that this movie is going to take a completely interesting character and kill him as far as merchandising and fan interest goes. Why are we reverting back to ADAM WEST here? This could have been a great mob movie... sort of a superhero/noir version of HEAT.

From a lot of reviews, this seems to be a fun flick. I know most fans would have liked to have seen it take a serious route, but making it more of a comedy with Seth Rogen will give the Hornet name more exposure. Also, unfortunately, Studios only care about B.O, not so much how it grows on DVD.

I guess by complaining, I am trying to convey the point that a serious character should not be done lightly or for laughs.

I will concede your point. Maybe I am being harsh, but its only because I always wanted to see a Green Hornet film.

I could tolerate a few liberties, but this film is about 20% faithful to the mythos. Kato doesn't work for Reid's dad. Britt Reid saves his life in the Orient and as such, Kato dedicates his life to helping Britt. James Reid (should be named Dan Reid) does not get murdered. He is supposed to be framed by the mob and dies in jail. Britt Reid studied in Africa and the orient to become an adventurer, but due to his father's death in jail, he takes over The Daily Sentinel newspaper and decides to crusade against crime because the city is out of control and overrun with crime.

Rogen's inspiration for being a crime fighter: He's been a slacker his whole life and because his daddy dies, he decides to become a chubby bumbling crime fighter with the help of the real hero, KATO.

THIS MOVIE = FAIL!

Maybe because Im not a fan of Green Hornet, but everything I read about it just makes it hard to believe they played it straight back in the day and I dont really see besides the tone, what they changed, about the character.
-The "sidekick" being so much more badass (and smarter?) than the hero. Check
-Reid being a rich playboy? Check
-Black Beauty being a 1966 Chrysler Imperial? Check
-Faithful costumes? Check

Plus it has a visionary director (one who actually has been called visionary by many) and an Oscar winning actor. Plus, it's already getting pretty decent buzz.

Other than the tone change I dont see what they did that makes this look worse than Batman & Robin.

I understand your upset by somethings that happened with the film but you are overreacting to the extreme. Overreacting so much that your kind of coming off as a troll. I dont see why you come back just to say over and over "THIS FILM SUCKS AND WILL BE WORSE THAN B&R" (in more words). THere are movie project I dont like. There are some project that I think look beyond stupid. For example, I loathe the fact that there using Barry Allen instead of Wally West in a Flash film. But I dont go into the Flash film thread unconstructively (is that a word?) complaining every other day about how bad its going to be because it's a waste of time and its rude to the people who actually discuss the character or in other cases the film especially when Green Hornet from what has been shown is more faithful than some other adaptations that have been made. Chill.

I don't mean to come off as a troll. It's just that I AM A BIG FAN OF THE CHARACTER and with all the silly action movies that come out, we don't need another one. If you don't believe this is a serious character, you never heard the radio version. THE GREEN HORNET IS essentially a detective type golden age character and is very close to the golden age heroes like Sandman/The Shadow and the Phantom. THE TV SHOW WAS PLAYED STRAIGHT. The radio gives much better stories for the character though.

Also, regarding Killgrave's comment, I have had my eye on this movie for nearly 2 years and was very excited and have been very open minded up until the trailer came out. A chubby, bumbling comedian should not play a debonair playboy type character...

What frustrates me is that the ones who are defending this movie, know more about SETH ROGEN than the title character. I will stop moaning and groaning and let you folks have your fun! As for me, I've given this trash heap enough of my time.

Looks that way in the trailer. Granted you see Kato do all the fighting and building Black Beauty; but it seems Reid is the one who comes up with the idea of them as heroes/"villains".
