This movie is happening in either 2009 or 2010. If it's gonna happen in 2009 it will film this year thanks to the strike. Marvel's apparently using it's 2008 film Iron Man to give us our first glimpse of the character. I have a feeling they're gonna save Cap for 2010. Whichever film comes first is fine by me as long as we get to see them both. What storyline do you think the movie should be based on??? Or do you want something completely original aside from the basics?

I'm assuming that Fury in Iron Man would already be a General so I think this movie should focus more on his time in the Gulf War.

Fury is not essential for an Avengers movie, and not a big property by itself.
Cap has to go first. Aim for success. |

to be honest I dont think Fury deserves its own movie. I think it be awesome if he just had small roles in all of the marvel/paramount movies and then play a bigger role in Avengers.
But seeing as how this is Samuel L.-mutha****in-Jackson, I see why they would want a solo movie. |

It's more important to put on the screen what is ready to go first. If it's CAP great...if it's Fury great. They're both coming and Fury could be a big property on screen despite his presence in the comics.

Cap for 2009 is a wiser choice than Fury.

But AD, Marvel has a finite set of money given by Merill, and it's decided that it's wanna split the 500 mill for the best franchises it has. Cap's one of the best ones, so Marvel has to bet all resources on it instead of diverting its attention to lesser properties.

This movie seems to have disappeared off of Marvel's slate since Andrew W Malone was announced as the screenwriter 2 years ago. What's the likelyhood now of it ever going into production now that Nick Fury and SHIELD are playing such an intergral part in Marvel's current and upcoming movies?

Call me crazy, but I think The Hoff did a great job with the character when they made the movie a few years back.

I don't think we need a Nick Fury movie... although a SHIELD movie featuring characters like Black Widow and Hawkeye could work.

To tell the truth, I think Nick Fury could have a great movie. If anything I think it should focus on SHIELD under Furys command though.

If anyone saw the Nick Fury scene after Iron Man, like Samuel Jackson and hasn't read comics will disagree with you

I am thinking along the lines of Wanted.... without the butchery... Black Widow would be the Angelina Jolie type figure and Hawkeye would be James McAvoy's character. SLJ would replace Morgan Freeman. That can work quite nicely as a little tune up to an Avengers sequel/prequel.
