1. Superbad...it was classic. 2. Grandma's Boy 3. American Pie Trilogy(3 movies i know, but American Pie 2 is best IMO. 4. The Big Lebowski 5. Old School/Animal House

Well, sometimes there are films you watch not for plot or substance, but simply because they make you laugh. So, I mean, there are films that make me laugh that I wouldn't consider my favorite comedies, because there are other films that may not have been as laugh-out-loud funny, but were better-made overall. For instance, Little Miss Sunshine doesn't make me laugh completely out loud, but it is one of my favorite films, if not my favorite, and it is considered a comedy (I would call it a dramedy, but that's arguable). So I don't really know what you mean here.

Usually, I am a tough critic for films, but for comedies, I critique them not by their overall quality, but if they successfully fulfill their purpose in making me laugh. Case in point, National Lampoon's Vacation. Many people love the film, but it doesn't make me laugh. Therefore, from my point of view, it is not a good comedy. Now take Not Another Teen Movie, Scary Movie 2, or Rush Hour 2 for instance. These films have pretty bad critical reception and aren't really quality films, but they are hilarious to me. Because of that reason, I rank them as very good comedies because they fulfill their purpose.

Some like it hot
Duck Soup Airplane! Ghostbusters Young Frankenstein I find comedies nowadays to be too reliant on old gags, they just aren't as original as they used to be, everything is a spoof on something else and there's always sexually-oriented humor in everything, I much prefer social comedies and commentaries, and if you're going to spoof something be...original about it.

Best in Show The rest usually flip flop on the list, but those two are my absolute favorite comedies ever.
