Amanda Bynes' parents abruptly uprooted from their Texas home and moved to California to take care of their troubled daughter ... TMZ has learned.

Sources connected to the family tell us ... what triggered their decision was Amanda's DUI last April.

We're told the parents put their home in Cedar Park, TX up for sale ... hoping to make a quick deal and get to Cali ASAP, but they couldn't find a buyer.

As Amanda's situation got worse -- hit-and-runs, what looked like pot-smoking photos, and lots of strange behavior -- Bynes' folks decided they couldn't wait any longer and just leased their place out.

One source told us the parents are NOT gunning for a conservatorship (a la Britney Spears) but merely want to be near their daughter as a support system. In the past our sources say the parents were adamant -- Amanda did not have mental issues or a substance abuse problem.

Sources close to Amanda Bynes tell TMZ her friends are fuming mad with her family ... wondering why they aren't doing more to help the troubled actress before something REALLY bad happens her.

According to our sources, Amanda's friends do not understand why her family is not being more aggressive when it comes to her wellbeing. We're told her friends are perplexed why they are just standing by and watching Amanda self-destruct.

Our sources say her friends (who feel they have done all they can) want her family to literally break down her door and drag her to get to help.

But that's a problem ... because we're told Amanda has slowly cut off communication from her entire family -- dad, mom, sister and brother -- to the point where she has ceased all communication entirely.

As TMZ first reported, Amanda's family recently moved from Texas to California to be closer to her. According to our sources, they are having the same level of success helping her now as they did before.

Amanda Bynes is currently packing up her NYC apartment ... and moving somewhere else ... after her landlord threatened to evict the actress claiming she's a disrespectful rule-breaker ... TMZ has learned.

Sources at the apartment tell us ... Bynes got a letter from building management earlier this month explaining that her lease would be terminated ... because she's a building nuisance.

We're told management made the decision after getting several complaints of marijuana smoke coming from her apartment -- "morning, noon and night." Sources say she was also seen smoking weed in the hallways.

FYI -- it's a non-smoking building.

As TMZ previously reported, Bynes is a fan of the herb -- she was photographed smoking weed around Los Angeles last year.

Sources say Amanda wasn't going to wait around and challenge management's decision -- and instead decided to simply find somewhere else to live.

The moving trucks are currently on-site. So far, no word on where she plans to live next.

If she keeps partying hard Miley won't be doing so fine though. She's still young and has yet to start showing the effects of such a fast lifestyle. Heck, if rumors are true it's costing her her relationship with Liam Hemsworth.
