and what's so great about him?
Sorry, I don't know his work at all, could someone point me in a good direction? (not wikipedia, wise guys )Just wondering what are some of his good stories that would convert a Marvel-hater like myself into actually wanting to read Spidey again, despite recent events...

Slott's most current title is Avengers Initiative which I believe to be one of the best (Top 5 anyway) Marvel ongoings......he's recently had stints with She-Hulk and the cancelled Thing ongoing....he also penned the brilliant "Spidey/Human Torch" mini....
....I'm not familiar with any of his DC stuff |

Get the Spidey/Torch mini series...
Avengers Initiative is good, but it features newer and more obscure characters...

In addition to what WIT listed, check out Arkham Asylum: Living Hell.
Slott will do well to write good stories, while still including a certain amount of levity that Spidey should have intertwined with the drama. I've wanted him on the flagship Spider-Man title for a while.

Check out the already classic 5 issue Spider-Man/Human Torch mini series...
You can see the man was born to write Spider-Man, AND he actually gives a damn about continuity, which you can tell from ALL the books he writes. ![]()

Exactly-Spider-Man/Human Torch was not only well written but shows how Slott adds to continuity. It was within this mini series that organic webbing became "officially acknowledge" by Spideyto the Torch. A must read.Available in the Library. Spidey rules

Yeah, he's good. I wish he'd been writing Spider-man rather than the guy who has been. I don't know if he could of done better, but I doubt he'd do worse.

I'm not that big a fan of Avengers: The Initiative, but that's probably because I'm not digging the characters as much, but from my own personal knowledge of some of them, he uses continuity really well and tries to tell a story based on things that have been, as opposed to telling the stories he just wants to tell, which is a technique by many scribes today (that's right Ellis, I'm looking at you...

But I knew you'd dig the Spidey/Torch mini... as said before, you can tell the man was born to write Spider-Man.

The thing about Brand New Day is there is no mess to sort out. It's "back to the basics," which IMO is one of the perks to BND.

Initiative is by far the best Avengers book out right now. If you haven't read it check it out. The first six are coming in TPB soon. It does have obsure characters written incredibably well with a plot that actually makes the reader think. Also Slott seems to be tying into Spidey continuity pretty tightly with some characters and a pretty good beat down from the bug himself. Check an issue, if you think it's @rap then go back to reading stories written with first graders in mind (my recommendation? WWH. Nothing can beat a guy that punches things!)

his spider-man is absolutely hilarious, probably the best comedic spider-man writer, which probably makes him my favorite writer. i'd love for him to do some work on the movies
