A new cool picture of Cyclops(Messiah Complex) at IGN.

Cyclops will never look cool in that costume.

I can't remember Cyclops looking cooler than in his Morrison run jacket. Seriously.

My favorite Cyclops costume was the New X-men & Astonishing. But atleast his Astonishing X-men costume is more realistic and better than Captain America.

Yeah, a blue bodysuit. Wow, creativity abounds.

A- to the -mizzen, brother. I was so glad when even Cassaday realized it was better than his crappy design and just switched back to it.

Yeah, Cassaday got cool points for that one. Not enough to overcome the not-cool points he earns everyday that AXM doesn't come out but cool points, nonetheless.

Silvestri got cool points for giving Hank a jacket of his own in the Messiah Complex one-shot. Far better than Cassaday's weird, semi-X-shaped capris costume.

Yeah, but he drew Hank with a weird neck in some panels and with the goat legs Quitely gave him. He loked more like the faun from Pan's Labyrinth.

I don't mind the goat legs, since cats have the same type of legs. To be honest, Hank looks more like a dog than a cat to me when Cassaday draws him without the cat legs. The only problem I have with those is when people draw them too skinny.

Silvestri's cat face, on the other hand, sucked. He reminded me of Perlman's Beast from the Beauty and the Beast TV show.

Cats don't have hooves, and that's how some artists have drawn Hank's feet. I like the Cassaday/Eaton/Perkins/Bagley legs and feet. With them, it's just legs. And feet. Why Marvel can't settle on a definitive look for one of their most popular characters is beyond me.

Okay, hooves look stupid and don't make any sense. But the cat-legs sell the cat-based secondary mutation more. Without them, he basically just looks like his old self with a new cat head.

But I wish they'd settle on a specific look, too. I don't even care which one. Eaton drew the straight-legged look really well in the Endangered Species back-ups. I've found myself becoming more and more a fan of Eaton with every new project I've seen from him.

I know what you mean. He's gotten very, very good. His Spider-Man work was iffy, in my opinion, but he's really stepped up his game since then. As much as I love Raimondi, I'm looking forward to seeing Eaton do some X-Factor issues. His covers alone look fantastic.

When did he draw Spider-Man? I mostly remember him as something of a savior to Thor when he took over as regular penciler for "The Reigning." Thor's comic had gone through a revolving door of so-called 'regular' artists before that, from Raney to the Lai brothers to a host of fill-ins. The whole King Thor saga suffered because of it, in my opinion--until Eaton came in and gave Thor not only a consistent look, but a great consistent look.

He did a few issues of FNSM, if I'm remembering correctly.

I'd never picked it up, but I remember preview pages.

I do kind of remember seeing Eaton-styled art on Peter at some point. He made Peter look about 10 years too old, just because he puts a lot of lines on faces.

He might've then, but he doesn't now. Have you seen the previews for X-Factor? Awesome.

Yeah, it looks good. He's got a pretty unusual and distinctive way of shading that I really like.

I loved the Cassidy designs to be honest. They were subtle, but then again i really liked the quitley ones too. I thought the costumes were subtle adaptations of their former suits... well except beast, but I liked the new approach. I know its not the cool thing to do, liking the "condom suit", but I think i like it. I'm not even a cassidy fanboy either.

He gets a lot of texture out of his shading. For example:

I know, a lot of that comes from the colorist, but the way he rendered the mountains in the background and the fur trim on Sif's coat is very convincing. It has a very natural looking quality.

Yeah. I honestly don't see how that's distinctive, though. I mean, Pacheco draws mountains like that, too. In any event, it's good art.

I don't know, it struck me as unusual when I saw it. I focus more on Pacheco's figures when I see his art, so I guess I haven't noticed his mountains.

The inking in that picture looks a lot like Thibert's inking, too.
