Default Remake-mania part 32463: Timecop

Easily the most entertaining film of his career, action man Jean-Claude Van Damme's 1994 sci-fi effort "Timecop" is getting the remake treatment.

Dark Horse Entertainment producer/publisher Mike Richardson revealed to The IESB last night that he is talking to Universal about bringing the property back to the big screen.

Richardson even admitted that there has been some talk about bringing certain "talent" to become the next Time Enforcement Agent - one of today's big action stars apparently.

Sadly Jean Claude Van Damme himself won't be returning in any capacity. Both a short lived TV series, and a direct-to-video sequel starring Jason Scott Lee were previously released to little notice, ratings or sales.

Sounds interesting, if they can pull it off right. Never saw "The Berlin Decision" or the TV series, but the original is among Van Damme's best.

as far as time traveling law enforcement goes, Demolition Man was always better.

That didn't really have anything to do with time travel. He was just cryogenically frozen for forty years and woke up in the future.

I actually liked the Timecop series.

I thought it was alright but preferred Bloodsport, Hard Target and Universal Solider a lot more. With that being said, yes, they should remake Timecop!

See, now THIS is a good idea for a remake! I always found Van Damme movies to be his own vehicles where the focus is always on him, his muscles, and his moves. Story and production value always seems to take a backseat.
