The "World of Heroes" DC RPG Season VI

Welcome to Season VI of the World Of Heroes DC Universe Role Playing Game!
Over the last few seasons, we have witnessed saviors fallen, only to arise again.
We've seen the brutality of a Dark Alliance and the horror of a world almost overtaken in a lust for power and revenge.
The attempted destruction of the human race, and a civilization fall under that same alien tyranny.

And worst yet, in the world's time of need, the dividing of Earth's greatest heroes, in the midst of those catastrophic events. Now, these same heroes look to take a world so desperately in need back into the hands of those who represent the very ideals that make them the protectors of mankind.

This season will mark the return of these heroes, and the beginning of what consequences lie in store for their resurrection. There will also be a new dawning in the age of this return, as two families join together, and one is ultimately torn apart, while somewhere, someway, a new threat begins calculating a final attempt to enslave the world newly united in the shadow of the restored Justice League Of America.

This RPG is based off of post-Crisis on Infinite Earths and pre-Identity/Infinite Crisis.

If you want to take part in this, just fill in the application at the bottom of this post and we'll put your name and character on the first post here. First come, first serve. Two characters are now allowed.

GAMEMASTERSRULES
  • You can choose to be any superhero or supervillain in the DC Universe, as long as they:
Are to be established on Earth, as in, if Lobo is to be involved, he has to reside in a DCU Earth city...

Are NOT deities, gods, or people such as Shazam the Wizard. People like Superman and Captain Marvel are okay, though...

Are true to the personality and abilities of the character, such as NO Pre-Crisis Superman, no moving planets, sneezing away the Milky Way, no amnesia kiss... EVERYTHING is set POST-Crisis, and Post-Zero Hour, in the current continuity of the character you are/wish to play/playing.
  • Don't do anything RANDOM like chopping off board user's heads or what not, unless your a villain chopping off inanimate victims heads, then whatever, go with it, as long as it's not technically RANDOM.
    Don't kill people without reason.
    Don't randomly kill NPC's.
  • You know your weaknesses and strengths, what you can do or can't. Black Canary will lose against Superman one on one, but may be able to use her allies to help her out or she can run away. (HA! Yeah ri-ght)
  • Don’t kill a PC unless you have a plan to bring them back.
Don’t kill your character when you quit the RPG, this rob's a person from playing that character.

You will be granted 48 hours to get a post up when you hit this mark, and if a post is not up by then your character will be removed and you will have to re-apply for them. Any player who states going on hiatus, will be basically put on hold and reserved. However, abusing this to avoid the 2-week rule penalty will not be received well.

THREE MONTHS AGO

"Okay, I know I probably deserve this... but come on, Linda. I said I was sorry."

Wallace 'Wally' West had faced numerous trials in his life. Proving himself a capable, responsible young man. Making a commitment to becoming a husband, long ago when he said the two words that made Linda Park his bride. Stepping up to the plate whenever he was told the news that he was going to be a father. Not to mention, of course, having to fight a diseased maniac bent on total destruction of the human race, just earlier that morning. But there was one task in his life, no matter how responsible he had become, no matter committed, no matter brave, that Wally just couldn't bare to face, even with his rather stellar resume of proving himself capable time and time again.

Shopping for baby food.

Wally's eyes darted up and down the aisle of the Keystone local Mini-Mart, as he held the cellphone firmly to his ear, awaiting his wife's response to his vague plea of forgiveness.

"No 'buts' about it, Mister.", Linda Park-West responded on the other end, so sternly that Wally had to wince, a bit, surprised by her tone. "We made a promise to eachother. Thursdays are your day to watch the kids, Fridays are your aunt Iris'. Not the other way around, as you apparentally thought, last night. And god knows, she's had to deal with them enough in the last month..."

"I know that. And I apologized to her, too, when we moved out of Jay's. But really, honey, can I help it if The Top, Mirror Master, Captain Cold, and Heatwave all popped up around town within the same week?", Wally asked. "Which, by the way, I've made little to no progress in rounding any of the beforementioned back up..."

"You used that excuse the last time, too. Except it was The Rainbow Raider robbing a felt store in Central."

Wally's eyebrow raised, before a smirk graced his lips.

"Wait. Don't tell me you've gotten used to this..."

"Don't try the for playful voice, Wally.", She replied back. "You're still on thin ice."

"Good thing I can run over water, then...", Wally quipped back, before grabbing a can of Gerber's formula, looking it over, and without a second thought, tossing it into his cart. "Okay, fine. You win... again. I'll try to be home before five."

"It's only eleven."

"Maybe you're not used to this after all.", Wally replied, with a bit of a chuckle.

"Funny, but considering you can drop off the groceries less than a minute after you step out of line, I'd wager that you're the one who isn't-"

It was in that moment, as if fate had intervened, that Wally noticed the lights flickering on and off above him. Looking up, Wally then looked at his phone, as the menu turned to static. Sighing to himself, he looked forward, and peered out of the front windows of the store. Noticing something odd out of it, within the city, Wally's eyes widened instantly.

"Oh, crud..."

With a blur of scarlet, Wally was gone in an instant. His cart... and the items around it, for the matter, were scattered across the aisle in his wake. A passing store clerk, who had stepped from his post to return a box of beer batter, turned the corner of the aisle moments later, only to pause, and stare at the mess before him in disbelief.

"Uh... c-clean up on aisle 12..."

Seconds passed, before The Flash raced down the streets of Keystone City, never stopping for an instant as the city became nothing more than a passing whirlwind of motion around him. A determined look on his face, even evident under the mask, he teared across the bridge aligning Keystone and Central, and dashed pass the cars within a blink of an eye. Yet somehow, even at the rate he was going, he heard the buzzing of the communication link embedded within his right cowl-wing. Tapping it once, He listened intently as he dodged a sudden flying shard of glass that had appeared in thin air.

"Wally?", Linda's voice asked, concerned.

"Yeah.", He answered back, dodging even more glass.

"You were cut off, back at the store. You're doing the hero thing, again, aren't you?"

"Yeah.", He repeated, in the same tone, before racing to the side of the street, up the wall, and across a building, simultaneously breaking the windows under his foot with every rapid step.

A loud sigh was heard, on the other end of the line.

"Just try to be home by five."

"'Kay.", He answered, bluntly, before tapping the wing again, and tearing off down the street even faster, pinballing his way past several citizens still on the sidewalks, who could simply stare in awe as the gust of wind passed them.

Now, the explosion I saw came from this corner. But with no fire, no apparent disenigration, or so much as a scorch on the streets, then I don't think what I saw was an explosion of the normal variety, which means...

"BOW TO ME, INFERNAL HUMANS!"

The Flash sighed, loudly, a dreadful look suddenly upon his face.

"Oh, great..."

Racing down the buildings ahead, The Flash leaped off of them, before taking back into the streets, letting the glass hit his skin as he accelerated, shattering it upon impact. His eyes glowing with energy, The Flash's speed triplicated within an instant, as he turned from a scarlet blur, to barely an orange wind, finally reaching Central City Square. His body was burning, from the way he was pushing himself. But after all that had happened in the past month, or so, he had to. Considering all that he had strived to prove to not only his wife, but his kids, Jay, and the rest of The Justice League, Wally wasn't about to let himself be outdone again. Especially not by King Kong's mentally adept yet inept third cousin.

"Haven't we been over this, Grodd? Is does the whole theory about 'monkey see, monkey do' fit into this equation, somewhere?"

The behemoth known as Gorilla Grodd turned, angrily snarling, as his enemy's voice echoed throughout the town's square.

"Unbelieveable,", Grodd cursed under his breath. "You would be wise not to even start, you costumed imbecile! I have a mind to smash your skull beneath two of your Earthly 'automobiles' for even thinking you could tread near me!"

With a pause, Grodd then smiled, viciously.

"Infact, that is a rather marvelous idea."

"Maybe so. Except there's one problem..."

Grodd turned completely around, stunned, as The Flash grinned in his face.

"You're gonna have to catch me, first."

Disappearing into a cloud of crimson wind, Wally went to work immediately, sending a barrage of jabs towards Grodd's thick hide at blinding speeds. Hundreds per second turned to thousands per mili-second, as The Flash didn't even consider stopping until the ape was down. Unfortunately, all that Grodd did was wince in pain, for a bit, before looking out in anger.

"Enough of this.", The ape breathed, before mentally commanding the concrete road infront of him to lift.

With a crack, the road split it two, ahead of him, before The Flash was finally knocked out of his cloak of speed, and onto the pavement, head first. Grunting in pain, Wally pushed himself up, and shook his head, before realizing that Grodd was already upon him. Grabbing the Scarlet Speedster by the throat, Grodd lifted the hero over his head, before tossing him into the air, waiting for his land, and punching him with a mighty hit, sending The Flash into a nearby mailbox. All things considered Wally had to admit that while the trip was painful... what Grodd had just perform was substantially worse, as he shook his head, weakly pushing himself back to his feet.

"How many of your primitive bones do I have to grind into dust before it becomes clear that you are, quite simply, inferior to me in every way?", Grodd asked, standing before him.

"Depends. How many do you think I got left?", Wally asked, before jolting forward at an impeccable speed, and sending a fearsome uppercut to the simian.

Grodd turned, a smirk on his own lips, as he licked away the small trinket of blood that had coursed from them.

"No, I believe the proper query is... How many you will lose on this day, Flash.", Grodd answered.

The Flash became serious, all of the sudden, staring up at Grodd, trying to hide his fear in the fact that his attacks were doing little to no good against the villain. Suddenly, as grim as it were, Wally realized that shopping for baby food was probably a much more appealing alternative to his morning, after all.

If not a much less painful one.

CAPTAIN NAZI: MY ORIGIN

My origin has been chronicled by a number of sources. The despicable Justice Society will have told you that I am a German turned übermensch during the time of the Great War. Others might tell you that I am the embodiment of Hitler’s ideals, a personification of the Fourth Reich. A few will tell you that I was once Albrecht Krieger.

All of them were right.

I will tell you my story.

It started on the night of the 1th of July in 1934, a date you may know as the Night of the Long Knives. I was but simple private Albrecht Krieger, a guard in what you filthily call a “concentration camp”, the one based in Dachau. My task had been simple: to guard the cell of Fritz Gerlich, a catholic traitor to the Reich, who had insulted Hitler in paper rags that were not fit for a dog to **** on. Two hours into my shift, I had been ordered to execute Gerlich for his treachery.

As I stood before Gerlich, brandishing my luger pistol, I suddenly felt the presence of another man in the cell. While Gerlich cowered before me, I turned to find a red-haired man behind me. Dressed in black, he wore the proud symbol of our Reich, the swastika, but I knew then and there that I could never trust this man.

“Don’t wait on my account, Albrecht.”

I did not hesitate a moment and turned around immediately, firing my pistol. The bullet flew straight through Gerlich’s head, his death instant. The blood spattered upon his glasses as he fell over. I smiled at the image of the broken bloodied glasses. As I turned around, I could see the man was smiling as well, as if he had just witnessed a turning point in history.

“Private Krieger, such an appropriate name.”
“What is it you want, wraith?”

The man smiled as he let his hand go through the bars of the cells.

“Wraith. Hm. Hadn’t thought of it like that.”

I lifted my pistol towards him, even though I knew it was futile to do so.

“Yes… you’re perfect,” he said as he outstretched his hand, and I could feel it.

Time froze around me.

Zatara

I am the most popular teenage magician in the world. Hell, I'm the most popular magician in the world, period.
With a single sentence, I can make almost anything happen.
You want unlimited money? Done.
You want the fastest car on earth? It's yours.
All I have to do is say it.
That's how powerful I am.
My name is Zachary Zatara. And I suck at Street Fighter.

"HUZZAH! KO'ed, newbie. You can not defeat me, grasshopper. It took me years of training to reach this point, and now I am the champion of Street Fighter." says Danny Cassidy, pointing his huge finger in my face.

Danny's one of my best friends. He's a father figure, I guess, since I never really had one.
When I first began to develop my powers, Danny was there to guide me through each step. Sure, Zatanna taught me a few tricks, but that was mostly just as a courtesy. She's my cousin and I love her, but Zee's always off on some mission or the other, so I don't really see her that much.
But Danny, he was really there for me.
Oh yeah, Danny's a demon. Technically.
A while back, Danny sold his soul to the Devil to become a movie star. I know, I know, not exactly the smartest thing to do.
Then he tried to back out of the deal and ol' pointy-horns used some serious hoodoo to transform him into a demon.

Jeez, and I let him teach me things? Anyway, he goes by Blue Devil now. He's a superhero. Even belongs to a superhero team, Shadowpact. I won't even go in to the loonies on that roster.

But like I said, he taught me everything he knew.
Except how to make Ryu shoot the fireball out of his hands.

"You should just give up now, kid. Ain't no beating me when it comes to SF!" Danny laughs.

I slap his hand away. "Listen, smurf-man! I'll kick your ass this time." I wave my finger at his face, and he laughs.

"!snioc eroM" I shout, as 5 dollars in change appears in my cupped hands.

Danny gives me that look. Ugh, that look.
See, Danny doesn't really approve of how I use my powers. His thinking was more along the lines of me joining the Shadowpact, saving the world from demons and goblins.
I went a different route, settling on immense amounts of cash and women.

A smile crosses his lips. "Fine. But I'm telling you, you don't stand a chance. Just don't cry when I kick your ass this time, sparky."

"Oh, game on!" I push the coins into the slot and the machine beeps to life.

"niw em eka..."

"No magic. Cheater."

Dammit...

The Tale of Jason the Bloody, and of The Arch-Daemon Etrigan
Throughout the passage of time, there have been many stories of Jason and his demon. They come from a mythical time, a land of kinights and wizards and monsters. A fantastic place, that faded away. And now only I remember. Only I remembers the clash of sword on sword, the look in a fair maidens eye. And from that time came a great Tale. Greater than that of Arthur, King of the Britains. Greater than that of Merlin, the greatest mage to walk the face of this earth. Nay, my friends, tis the story of the last knight of the Round Table, Jason the Bloody, a story continued to this day. Over the years many embelishments were added to the story, but as the only person who can fully recall said story, i shall try my best to give to ye the straight facts.

During the time of Arthur, King of the Britons, a great order was formed, the Order of the Round Table. It contained all the knights of the realm that were considered heroes amongst the people. And these great heroes, they fought against the tide of woe and evil that swept the land. They acheived many great feats, disbanding and reforming, time and again, membership constantly changing. And from the highest Watchtower of Camelot, they spied almost the whole world around, protecting and serving.

However there came a greater force than even these gods among men could handle. The cousin of Arthur, the dreaded Mordred, plotted from within the circle to overthrow it. The trecherous cad had only been permitted to join the circle because of his great cousin. And so Mordred the b*stard, masterminded the downfall of the Round Table, with his lover, the great enchantress Morgan Le Faye.

And so the wicked plan came into place, and Mordred smuggled Le Faye into the castle of Camelot at night. The wicked Le Faye cast many spells, bringing an army of creatures from the black void. This loud clamour woke the brave knights, who came out to fight in only their bedclothes. First to fall was Sir Galahad, and then dashing Lancelot, felt the curved, Etherworldly blade. Merlin tried to stop Le Faye, but he was powerless against the horde of goblins, and trolls.

Merlin, being a crafty person, knew that there had been a traitor in the Circle, and assumed it to be Jason the Bloody, for I was the only knight left standing. As a sword plunged through his chest, he cursed me to be forever bound to the beast that had slain him, until such time that he could repent for his one freat sin.

Thus Merlin the magician died, and with him fell Camelot, and the Round Table. The Great Watchtower was destroyed, and I was cast out from all decent society. And in time he learned of a darkness within him. A darkness that over time began to call itself Etrigan.

from the journals of Jason Blood

It's a strange feeling...losing a year of your life, I mean. How do I even begin to return to the life I left behind? That's the question that I've been asking myself for months.

I know it's not fair to the Titans. They've been taking care of me while I was incapacitated. It seems so simple to return to them and just say, "Hey! I'm awake!"

But it's not that simple. A lot can change in a year. I've missed so much. It's taken almost all my time just to get caught up. Plus I've been flexing muscles that have been in a coma for a year. It feels good to use my powers actively again.

I wish I could enlighten you to what a coma is like, but I'm not sure myself. I suppose it's like sleeping - some people dream and some don't. After all, that's what it felt like. I felt like I was in a really long sleep. Except that every now and then, I would be watching memories of my life - like a movie. It opened my eyes and made me realize what's really important in this world.

And that's why I know what I must do.

Cassie...Bart...Tim...Vic...Gar...Kara...it's time for me to return to my family...to my home.

I see the Tower on the horizon, and I can't help but think that there's no more beautiful sight on the planet. I pray that someone is there. I pray that I can start the reunion process.

A new day is dawning, and Superboy is coming home.

Stanford University
Stanford, California
Three Months Ago

I do my best to stifle as yawn as I lean back in my chair

"Mister Allen, are you done?" The gray haired woman stands in the front of the small classroom.

"Yep."

"Already?" She looks at her watch and looks at the clock hung on the wall.

"You do know this test will determine your acceptance into Stanford?"

"Yep."

"You don't want to look it over?"

"Nope."

She shrugs her shoulders and shakes her head.

"Alright. Bring it up here and you're free to go."

"Here."

I hand her the papers and she looks at me skeptically.

"Have you picked a major yet?"

"Yeah." I bite my lip and smile.

"Criminology. I-..I want to be a forensic scientist."

"Like CSI?"

"No. Like my grandfather."

I walk out the classroom and navigate through the hallways of the college. My thoughts start to wander as I open the door and walk into the California sun.

BBZZT!

My cellphone starts to vibrate, I dig into my pocket and pull it out.

"Hello."

"Bart..." It's Linda. She sounds a bit worried.

"What's wrong?"

"It's Wally, he's fighting Grodd in Central. I think he needs help."

"I got it."

I quickly hang up and in a blur of yellow and scarlett. I'm gone from Stanford and gone from California.

"I know Wally won't admit it, but right now what he needs.."

"Is Kid Flash."

In the blink of an eye, I'm in Central and speeding towards Grodd as he stands over Wally.

"Hey Kong!"

I leap onto Grodd's back and pummel it at superspeed.

"Mario called, he wants his barrels back!"

Kryptonite. That's all I ever hear about. Yeah, as if I really need that stuff to melt their insides.

Deep within a scrapyard on the outskirts of Metropolis, a pair of glowing green eyes could be seen like fireflies in the shadows cast by the staggering piles of metal everywhere.

Sure, I'll admit that I get a kick outta using the green rock to toy with the Big Blue Boyscout, but I don't really need it. As a power source, it's pretty convenient, but I make do with the backup battery just fine.

As if it were nothing, John Roger Corben brushed the old rusty car out of his way and walked to the center of the yard. Cold. Unfeeling. It was like coming home again. Many believed that Metallo couldn't feel pain on account of his robotic body.

Not so.

Every time that his body had been destroyed, or his head removed, John felt it. The feeling was far away and remote - different than how he remembered it feeling as a human being - but the sensation of agony was still perfectly within his ability to feel.

John walked the streets of Metropolis every night. Nobody recognized him with skin on. Just another face in the crowd. The City of Tomorrow, the name Lex Luthor had given his home town years ago, was ever the reminder to Corben that Metropolis was a technological playground that he was forbidden to play in. However, every time he tried to indulge himself, Superman would show up. "What a croc of s**t," he told himself on many occasions. Some nights, just out of boredom, John would demolish a building or set fire to a bus full of tourists, but very little seemed to quench his thirst - his thirst for power and chaos. No, John Corben wasn't insane; he didn't take any unique or perverse pleasure in killing people. Nor did he have any illusions about his place as a very evil personality in the world.

Metallo was simply a monster. And he was perfectly fine with that.

“Harvey…….”

“You can’t hide for ever.”

“Even in the deepest parts of your mind I still haunt you, There’s no place to run, come on out!”

“Come on out Harvey!”

Harvey Dent, former district attorney of Gotham City and sociopath Two-Face were at odds like they had been for the past few years, They were playing their own little fight in Harvey’s mind because their body was stuck in a coma.

Harvey sat down in the soft cold relaxing areas of his white heaven resting his head on the wall like a pillow trying to close his eyes.

“Harvey, I can go on as long as I want, Harvey!”

Harvey clenched his fist and sprung into the air.

“WHAT!”

His voice echoed across his paradise, his own little box outside the world now disrupted of the hellish “neighbor” next to him.

“Now that’s a good boy!”

Harvey walked nearer to his enemy with in.

“Look, You’ve tortured me for YEARS! All I ask is just for you to go AWAY for one minute let me in peace!”

“No, Sorry Harv. You’ve tried to get rid of me to many times to warrant that, Plus when you got that fancy plastic surgery. Well you had enough of a vacation, And to ADD to that I didn’t appear at all till what you were in your 30’s? AND you tried to get rid of me by committing suicide!”

“OK! OK! But you’re a criminal and your just wearing me down I can’t live like this! I don’t know how long I’ve been in this coma all right? I could already be 40 for god’s sake and I wouldn’t know! Hell I could be dead and God doesn’t know what to do with me so decided we should have a therapy session!

“Well either way, We’re stuck with each other Harvey!”

Wally could only watch, as Grodd went from loitering over him with a sadistic smirk, to spasming at an impressive speed, trying to pry something off his back. At first confused, Flash peered closer, gaining a truer scope of the situation as he heard, in a language that was being uttered at three times the normal velocity of a sentence, his cousin's voice, spouting out at Grodd as he pummeled into the ape's back. Wally smirked, widely, trying to hide his obvious joy in seeing Bart take on the villain with little to no fear whatsoever. He had come a long way, since his days as Impulse. Heh. Gotta hand it to him... the kid always knew how to make an entrance.

Running backwards, then turning, Wally raced across the cityscape, letting his injuries heal at a rapid pace. Though to him it was taking minutes, in reality it was only in the space of about five seconds. With a pass of crimson wind, The Flash returned to Central Square, as good as new, even apparentally taking the time to grab a fresh costume, as the rips and tears on the other one had vanished instantly. With another huff of the city air, Wally raced forward at Grodd, tearing the street beneath his boots as he jabbed the simian across the cheekbones, jaw, eyelids, and ears, twelve times. Then twenty. Then a hundred twelve. All in the space of two and a half seconds, fittingly enough.

"Not that I'm admitting I couldn't handle this myself,", Wally mentioned to Bart, with a wink, as he pressed on his attack towards the angry ape. "But I gotta admit, I couldn't have thought of a better time for a family reunion if I tried. Good to see you in the neighborhood again."

Gotta hand it to him... the kid always knew how to make an entrance.

I smile and rub the back of my head. Grodd's fist flys through the air and passes through my head as I vibrate my molecules and become intangible.

"Strike one!"

Grodd headbutts my torso and his massive head flys through.

"Swing and a miss."

Grodd finally smiles.

"Foolish child. I've been toying with you. While I can't touch your body."

I grab my head in pain as I fall to my knees. It feels like someone's hitting me in the head with a sledge hammer.

"Your mind, is like an open door. Grodd can come and go as he pleases."

The pain is so great, I finally puke all over the ground as my vision starts to blur from the pain.

Underneath his mask, Wally's eyes widen, witnessing the fastest teen alive's mental anguish take external form. Gritting his teeth, The Flash is on the simian warlord in seconds, poking him in the eyes, stretching out his ears, and knocking out as many teeth as he can, circling the ape at blinding speed, seemingly everywhere at once. Grodd finally falls back, exhausted, and distracted... but not before Bart manages to dispose of his lunch all over the sidewalk. Looking back at Grodd, Wally sneers, before instantly appearing at the teen's side. Damn you, Grodd...

"Kid Flash, you alright? Did he hurt you bad? How many fingers am I holding up?", He asks, kneeling down to help him up. "Snap out of it, Bart. Block him out. You can do it."

"The child is as foolish as his mentor,", Grodd laughs from behind them, pulling himself to his feet, a smile between globs of blood. "What's the matter, speedster? Forgotten of how easily I can render one of your pathetic underlings powerless?"

Turning, The Flash merely stares down the ape, his boots already vibrating from the momentum of the acclerated rate he's about to move in.

"That does it,", Wally angrily begins, his eyes glowing with energy from powerful influence of the speed force. "You can pound on me all you want, Apeface. But when you hurt the people I care about, it's a new ballgame."

Kicking off the street, The Flash races forward, allowing only the few limitations he has to hold him back, as both Grodd and the world around him become little more than immobile statues for him to move amongst. Until finally, he slows, moving behind his enemy. Grodd turns, the intent of murder in his eyes all too apparent.

"Damnable human, is there no end to your incompetence?!", Grodd demands. "You've just left yourself open to attack!"

"Wrong,", The Flash shot back. "I just left you open to attack. I only slowed down because I want you to see what I'm about to do to you."

With a supercharged leap forward, The Flash struck Grodd, savagely pounding away at him in ways that wouldn't ordinarily be seen by the human, or simian eye. But in Grodd's case, now... he could see every attack coming. But Grodd could still do nothing to stop them.

Patrolling the streets of St. Roch has never been a boring task. Hawkgirl and Hawkman have guarded its skies for so long, yet the desperate and the very stupid criminals still lurk in the shadows. Were this another life, surely eliminating such a statistic such as crime would be much more simple.

He has seen such a variety of methods used to restrain order and peace as well as punishment. One of the most effect methods, they would've simply hung the criminals by their necks with a rope, and leave them out for all to see. It was a painful method, for many times the necks would snap, but not to the point where it caused quick and painless death. Sometimes the damned scumbags would just hang there, waiting for their time to end; suffering every second of pain.

Then all who chose such a life would fear and know the punishments for their actions. Odd, for today any common folk would look back at such actions and label them as barbaric. But it was merely a means of practicing justice and order in that day; in that past life. It sure got the job done too.

"Help! Help!"

"Shut up! Just...just shut up! Gimme your purse, and I won't hurt--"

"HELP! HELP!"

"I SAID, SHUT--AAAAAHHH!!!"

Hawkman swoops down and lift him into the skies. The man screams for a bit; they always do. As Hawkman takes him across the town of St. Roch, he glances down as he pasts the lamp posts. The more he thinks about them, the more the idea of how what a hanging post they would've made. But alas, that was another life. Justice used to be so much more swift. However, overtime mankind has learned to adapt to newer methods. Hawkman stops mid-air, pulling the criminal closely to his face.

"Stealing money from a woman, no matter what her age, isn't the most noble of things to do is it?"

"P-P-Please! Don't...don't drop me! Don't--"

"Are you denying that stealing money from a woman, no matter what her age, isn't the most noble of things to do or not? I didn't receive an answer."

The sight of the police sirens going off in the distance are visible to Hawkman's keen eyes. The victim made a smart move and she ran to the police. In any moment, the squad cars of St. Roch's finest will be speeding down this street. Cops. They have means of interrogation where they play the game "good cop, bad cop".

But Hawkman has overplayed that game enough in all of his lives and believes the game to be stupid, and entirely a waste of time. Experiences has taught him it is much rather best to skip straight to playing the "bad cop" and get it over with. Crime thrives on society's understandings. To him Society is growing too soft on Justice. In Hawkman's mind he relives the glory days as a British Commodore chasing and pursuing pirates blanketed by the enormous blue Caribbean sky. And no matter how much he wishes he could relive the thrill of that moment, he must abide by today's standards.

"I--I'm sorry! I won't do it again. Just please don't drop me!"

"Sorry doesn't cut it. Perhaps in the next life, you will consider the consequences of your actions. Farewell."

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!"

Hawkman drops the man and he screams; typical. The criminal was too scared to notice that just below them was a garbage dumpster. At the altitude they were at, the most he would get from the drop would be a few small cuts and bruises. As the criminal crashes into the dumpster, Hawkman descends swiftly, closing the top to the dumpster. The sound of the police sirens become so audible in the distance that even the criminal would be able to hear them coming for him were he not knocked unconscious from the impact. The officers step out of the car.

"I think you will find the cowardly purse-thief in here, officers. Now if you'd excuse me..."

"...I must be on my way."

OOC: Just a reminder, my first few Aquaman posts are 1 month away from the present. I will make another OOC tag when my posts are the present day.

He looks into her eyes and he becomes lost in them; all she does is smile back. Garth comes over to the table, carrying a few drinks and offers them to the newly re-wed couple. It's a joyous time in Atlantis, for aside from the reconstruction of the capital that had been taking place two months after the large onslaught, Orin and Mera's wedding had been in the processing of planning. And it is now, that the re-married couple enjoy a most festive of wedding receptions.

"You look beautiful, Mera."

"Oh, don't make me blush, Garth. I look like a whale right now."

"That's our future daughter you are talking about, Mera. He's right. You are radiant and glowing with beauty."

Orin smiles, and sneaks in a kiss on Mera's cheek. He then places his hand on her stomach, but does so gently. Mera is currently in her second trimester, and he pregnancy is much more noticeable.

"Thank you, my love. And you can give Dolphin my thanks for helping pick out the catering and decorations for this beautiful reception party. She wouldn't let me help at all, you know."

"She and I...and Orin, agreed that it would be best to leave it all to someone else."

"You've got a baby on the way after all, Mera."

Dolphin walks up to the table, holding Cerdian in her arms. Garth takes Cerdian from her, and takes a seat after pulling a chair out for Dolphin to sit.

"Have you two decided on a name?"

"And that's my cue..."

Orin and Mera look at each other, and both blush. Orin kisses Mera gently on her forehead, and she turns towards Garth as Orin gets up from the table, and walks away.

"That's something even you two have to be patient on. It wasn't easy...but we were eventually able to agree on one. Good lucky catching Orin so he can tell you, and you'll find that my lips are sealed."

Orin walks around, shaking hands and receiving blessings from everyone at the wedding reception. Friends from all across the world have come together for this one event underneath the tides. Atlantis has never shined so proudly. But even in such a joyous time, there are some who still struggle to enjoy it.

"You don't look too well, even for Superman."

"Huh? I'm sorry, Arthur. It's a fantastic wedding and all, but I've searched tirelessly every night. My x-ray vision, super hearing, and superspeed account for nothing."

"I assure you, I have every creature in the sea searching endlessly for Lois. So at least you've got three fourths of the world to not have to worry about searching. Try to enjoy the rest of the evening; even Bruce is being cheery. And how many times have we tossed around the grim and brooding jokes? You'll find her, Clark. You're Superman."

"Thank you. And may I wish you and Mera an eternity of love and happiness. Congratulations."

The two shake hands, and Superman manages to bring a smile upon his face. Orin pats him on the back, but before he walks away, he turns around briefly.

"Do you know where J'onn is?"

"No clue. You cannot just pinpoint him down mentally?"

"It's a wedding party, Clark...I'm already going to have a headache when I wake up in the morning. No need to make it any worse."

Kara sat on her bed reading the newest issue of Cosmopolitan, while zoning to music. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a blue and black blur in the distance through her window. Immediately she focused her telescopic vision on the figure and her heart jumped into her throat.

No way. It can't be.

In an instant Kara was in the air near the tower flying towards the oncoming person.

"KON!!!!!!! ITS YOU! YOU'RE AWAKE!!!!"

Before Superboy could react, Kara had him in a bearhug and had tackled him to the ground below.

There aren't many people in this world fast enough to catch me off-guard.

Kara Zor-El is one of them.

"Took long enough, eh?" I respond after the initial fit of joyful laughter. "I've missed so much..."

I sigh. While I was busy being comatose, my friends and family were carrying on with their lives.

"Where's the rest of the team? I'm about three months late on congratulating Bart for graduating."

I manage to get to my feet, and just like that. I'm with Wally hammering the giant ape.

"You bastard! Do you know how bad puke tastes?"

I drive my elbow into his face at superspeed and he falls to the ground.

"T'was beauty what killed the beast..."

Wally arches his eyebrow and stares at me as I shrug my shoulders.

"Eh, the King Kong joke was lame. But it would have been lamer had I not made it."

She got into a sprinter stance.

"Race you to the tower? Last one gets the bill on the pizza?"

They've said he's different.

At least, those who know him best. The world at large... the world he has made it his sole burden to protect, if need be... wouldn't be able to tell. He still flashes the same reassuring smile that has inspired millions. He is still unhesitant to gague in the most dangerous peril concieveable, and give his absolute best to selflessly make sure everyone else is out of that danger before he is. He still instills a great sense of hope in the people of Metropolis. And he's still faster than a speeding bullet. But what The Man Of Tommorow hides behind a demeanor of righteous courage and unparallelled power is something he doesn't want to share with the rest of the world. An inner pain that dwells within him... haunts his very life, in every possible moment. What Superman hides under the symbol on his chest that he's made iconic... even timeless, is the one flaw of humanity that he's never wished to share. A tormented heart.

Right now, however, he pushes the thought to the side. It's an act of which he's been forced to countless times in the past few months since his wife has been gone, but nevertheless, he finds himself pulled from the endless dwelling of what he could possibly do to ease his pain, and finds himself doing it for an entirely different purpose. To make amends. He is no longer Superman, in this moment... the definition of truth, justice, and an american ideal that he has made of life of standing for. He is simply a man brought up in this world, spawned from another, and willing to honor that heritage on his new homeworld, for a culture he has chosen to adopt as family. What Clark Kent is doing now is building a sanction for the heroes of the world. And that very action is enough to make him forget, if not for one moment, that he still isn't able to come home to Lois.

Flying up, and through the crystalized structure he has tirelessly gone back to in the most private moments of the past three months, Clark carries a newly built teleportation pod on his left shoulder. It weighs nearly seven thousand pounds, given the contents inside of it... but Clark carries it as if it were luggage. It's a thoughtless gesture he's gotten used to, as he reaches to far east of the structure, and places the pod down, in it's place. It glows with life, eblazing the emblems of at least seven of his most trusted allies, among his own. Seeing this sight makes Clark smile, genuinely, as he turns and takes off back into the air, surveying the now completed creation. Infront of him lies some of the most technologically advanced machineary in the world... and rightfully so, given part of it is of otherworldly origin. But among the machines lie tributes... some to fallen heroes, some to those very much alive. The world at large will never see these, but Clark prefers it that way. This is his gift to the people that have been there in his life, especially in these past dark weeks.

Turning, Clark chuckles, viewing a newly arrived guest within the structure.

"So what do you think, boy?", He asks, lightly petting the forehead of Krypto, his loyal dog. The Superdog, as Martha Kent had once jokingly called him. "Do you think they'll like it?"

Krypto barks, once, in response, before energetically licking his master's face. Clark laughs, a little, continuing to pet him, before finally easing the dog off of him, and looking back at the structure.

"Yeah, I think they'll like it too.", Clark happily notes, before the two of them head out, followed by the automated lighting within.

Though he is unsure of it will ever be used by another living person, Clark looks back at the outside of the building, as he and Krypto fly out into the artic cold. Above the horizon sits the Fortress of Solitude, far enough to remain true to it's monkier, yet close enough to be considered apart of it. Turning back around, Clark increases his speed, as he and Krypto head for warmer climate. His work is complete, here, as the 'Hall Of Justice' he's built glistens in the passing sun. Now, however, real life lies ahead for Clark Kent, as he sails through the clouds.

And considering how the past few months had gone for him, any change was a welcome change.

"Clark, dear... you haven't touched your dinner."

Clark's eyes wandered from the window, to the solumnly worried face of Martha Kent, as she sat her and Johnathan's plates up on the kitchen counter, readying them for dishwash. Clark smiled, as much as he could, given what was on his mind, and began to stuff as much as he could into his mouth. Unsurprisingly, given who he was, the plate was cleared in an instant. Martha looked down upon it, eyes widened, before sighing.

"You know how I feel about you doing that at the table."

"I know, Ma... I'm sorry.", Clark acknowledged, getting up and adding his plate to the pile. "Guess I've just had alot on my mind, lately, given recent events."

"We know, son.", Johnathan acknowledged, placing a hand on Clark's shoulder. "There's no need for you to hide. We've seen you in your darkest hours, and we've seen you pull through them all just the same."

Clark looked away.

"It's... It's not what you think. Believe me,", Clark began. "All I'm talking about is the stress. The crimewave in Metropolis has gotten worse, since my return. And I can't help but feel responsible for that, because I'm sure that each one of them are protesting my return, more than anythng. And along with that, the League hasn't reformed, and no one's found the time to make much of an effort to change that. Bruce is in Gotham, Arthur's busy planning a remarraige ceremony in Atlantis, Both Wally and Jay have their own problems in the twin cities, and..."

"Clark..."

Martha placed a hand on her son's forearm, as he broke his rant, never making eye contact with either of them. If not for the shame of his emotions, then for the stress of daunting either with them. But Martha didn't care, as she placed both hands on either side of Clark's face, and made him look at her.

"I know what you're trying to do. But you're lying, Clark."

Clark smiled, hesitantly.

"I never lie, Ma. You know that."

"To other people, perhaps... But to yourself, I'm not so sure of.", Martha responded, sternly. "There's only one thing going on in the mind of my boy, and all three of us know it."

Clark didn't answer, for the longest time, as the three of them stood in silence. He simply stared out, across the wooden farmhouse, taking in the Kansas air he had grown to appreciate so much. But he knew, from the instant she asked him, that they were right. There was only one thing on his mind. And the worst part about it was, probably, that Clark didn't want them there. He wanted the world to be a happy place, again. One full of optimism, dreams, and ideals that he had represented time and time again. But the truth was... how could such a world be possible, if Lois wasn't there to enjoy it with him?

"I failed myself, Ma.", Clark whispered. "All of these years, I had lived in stern denial. Questioned each action I've ever taken time and time again. And through it all, I told myself that no matter what happened, even in my darkest days, that there would be a resolution to it all. A hopeful meaning to what I do."

"And what part of that changed for you, Clark?", Johnathan asked, concerned.

Clark looked at him, his eyes weighing as heavy as the burden he had carried all the way from Metropolis to Kansas, on this much needed visit to the Kent Farm.

"That's just it, Pa.", Clark answered. "Every part of it seems to change, these days. Suddenly, I find myself less believing in the words of comfort that I try to give the people I swore to inspire. Superman doesn't stand for the same ideals he once did, and I'm beginning to accept that. And that... it's just not acceptable. To me, to the people I've made champions of... to Lois."

Clark's head hung low, as he fought back the tears.

"God knows, to Lois."

Martha and Johnathan looked at eachother, even more worried than before, as Clark simply stood in silence, never uttering another word for the rest of the night. As wise as they had been in counciling Clark whenever he needed it, it seemed as if on this night, and in this set of circumstances, they couldn't find any comforting words to bolster his spirits. He was alone, now. Isolated from the very world he had sworn to protect. And that made him feel more alien than any of his unnaturalistic powers ever could.

High above the sanctions of Earth's atmosphere, a crimson cloak weightlessly danced upon the fighting oxygen and freedom of space. Superman's eyes remained closed, as his hearing focused on every sound... every utterance, or cry for help that would come from the globe that amassed infront of him. The symbol on his chest glowing brightly among Earth's varying lights, Superman's head rised, after mimicking the very action he had taken on that night of grief, months ago.

He had overcome such thoughts, and moved past the gloom days of self-doubt that had overtaken him when his search for Lois had become almost impossible. But there was still resemblance there, as Superman ignored the momentary sense of selfish hope that among those cries for help... among those needing aid, more than others... would be his wife, and only his wife, calling to him to come to her rescue. But again, like so many nights before, he heard not even the faintest whisper from Lois' lips.

Hearing a different cry for help, instead, Superman sighed, but put on the brave face, nevertheless, instantly eager to see what problem plagued the citizens that needed him. Though the people who knew him most had said he'd changed, there was one part of The Man Of Steel that never would.

"Still nothing,", He gravely told himself, leaving behind his solumn crusade to bring his wife home, and journeying back to the people that needed him.

Indeed, it was a dark time for The Man Of Tommorow. And no amount of performing such feats as leaping tall buildings in a single bound could change that.

She got into a sprinter stance.

"Race you to the tower? Last one gets the bill on the pizza?"
"Heh."

I mimic her stance and crack my knuckles.

"Kara, I could've been out for decades, and I'd STILL be able to beat you," I brag. Rather than responding, she looks straight ahead and prepares to take off.

She's just a split-second faster than me on the take-off. I make every effort to catch up, but as we approach the Tower, she manages to pull ahead.

Now, before you get on my ass for losing to a girl, keep in mind: it is Supergirl I'm dealing with here.

"You got lucky this time."

"Sure I did, Kon. Sure. Just like I got lucky against Kal... and against Bart that one time. Okay, maybe that one was luck... But I'm the fastest Kryptonian on the planet... cept for maybe the damn dog..."

As they walked into the entertainment room, she elbowed Kon hard in the ribs.

"Now order up that pizza. I want Supreme, with Stuffed Crust."

I followed her into the entertainment room. It's so strange that it feels like I was just in here, but I actually haven't been for quite some time. I just can't wait until the adjustment period is over and I can just start living without thinking about the coma.

"Fine," I reply, "But you're calling Bart - the Human Delivery Service - and having him pick it up."

I slouch down into a chair.

"After all, I don't want to OVEREXERT myself after all those months of sleeping," I say with a smirk.

Well, if nothing else, I can use that excuse for the next couple of days. So I guess there is a silver lining.

"Eh, the King Kong joke was lame. But it would have been lamer had I not made it."
"I couldn't imagine."

The Flash turned, as both he and Bart raced to the other side of the street, almost invisibly, as their arms simultaneously crossed coming to an instant halt.

"Alright, Grodd. Save us the trouble of kicking your preverbial kiester all the way back to Gorilla City and give it up. I think you've stepped out into humanity long enough for one day. Or better yet, one millenium."

The villain rose to his feet, smirking, quite proudly.

"Oh, you've... *koff*...you've thought you've won, haven't you?", Grodd stammered, choking on his own blood, as it seeped into his furr. "Optimistic inbeciles. Even if I'm not to finish you off myself, the Almighty Gorilla Gods will!"

Wally stared, blankly. "Almighty Gorilla whatnow?"

Shaking his head, the Scarlet Speedster turned to Kid Flash, confidently.

"I'm not even sure what he said, and I know it warrants an ass kicking. Think we should oblige?"

I smile and shrug my shoulders.

"You know the drill, Flash. You hit 'em high!"

Wally and I charge Grodd, Wally prepares to closeline him while I get low like a football player and aim for his knees.

"I'll hit 'em low."

With a little animosity in her voice, Kara replied.

"I'm not his keeper. He'll be here when he gets here."

She sighed.
