Source: Variety October 25, 2007 Jamie Foxx has signed on to topline The Zebra Murders: A Season of Killing, Racial Madness, and Civil Rights for DreamWorks. Plan B and Foxx-King Entertainment are producing, reports Variety. Based on the 2006 book by Prentice Earl Sanders and Bennett Cohen, the story chronicles the series of racially motivated serial killings -- black on white -- that took place in San Francisco in 1973 and 1974. Jamie Foxx will play Sanders, who was one of two black police detectives who led the team that cracked the case. Amid their investigation, Sanders and his partner fought harassment within the police department and organized a union of minority policemen who brought a lawsuit against the city for discrimination, which they ultimately won. Sanders went on to become chief of police. Matt Carnahan (The Kingdom) is adapting for the big screen. Plan B's Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner will produce alongside Foxx and Jaime Rucker King. Jeremy Kleiner, Marcus King and Shelby Stone will executive produce.

I have never heard of these killings before. You'd think they'd be broadcast moreso.

Black on white killings aren't given nearly the type of media coverage that the inverse type of killings do. I mean, someone on this thread thinks its fiction!
In a nutshell: The Zebra murders were a number of connected murders committed by a black supremacist serial killer ring which took place in San Francisco, California from 1973 until 1974, and which left at least 16 people dead, and from eight (Howard) to ten (additions by Scheeres, Crime Library, and Cohen and Sanders) wounded. The Zebra murders were the work of the Death Angels, a group within the black nationalist group, the Nation of Islam. According to the NOI's beliefs, the white race was created by a black mad scientist named Yakub, who, some say, wanted a race of inferiors to rule over.[1] Furthermore, the Death Angels believed that they could earn "points" towards Paradise when they died if they killed as many whites as possible. The NOI's teachings presented whites not as human beings, but variously as "blue-eyed devils," "white devils," and "grafted snakes." Maybe this will bring some awareness to how dangerous and racist the NOI organization is. |
