Routh may be out as Superman

Dandy, that's one less Superman Returns defender I'll have to sit next to in the theater.

Routh had a shot at Superman already. Maybe under the right direction he could have been good, but Bryan Singer mucked things up so bad that the next Superman movie needs a clean sweep. It's not throwing out the baby with the bath water, because there's simply no way to keep Routh while simultaneously undoing all of the damage that Singer did to the franchise. Routh carries with him the baggage of SR, and to start over there will have to be a different actor as Superman.

Thing is not everyone wants routh out and by getting a new superman you have the battle again to introduce him-to a new audience. I think they have enough problems already.
I thought he was really good as superman. At first i thought it would be a bad idea to reboot and forget the last one. But now i see its the only way to go. But where can you go with the kid mix. I think under the right directer a good script and a lois who's good. He'd be better.

getting rid of routh isn't a solution guys, stop with tom welling or the guy if i'm correct from the spirit. brandon did a good job and for the studio muck this up by wasting time finding a new superman is just going to ruin the franchise. besides his contract expired & so far the studio hasn't completely dropped him.

just fix problems for SR make a new movie it not that difficult if most of can do it i don't see why wb is creating all these unnecessary problems for themselves and can't.

so stop trying to blame routh he's superman and a good one. wb should quit trying to do is turn supes into a batman clone.

I never quite got that fanboy obsession with actors that played certain characters. You know, just because Routh was Superman in that last movie dosn't mean anything to me. Just like Bale isn't the only guy capable playing this part, nor nessecarily the best choice. If somebody else had gotten the role that somebody else would have the fan support now. It really isn't a matter of how good or bad the job he did was. There are always people who like it and people who don't.

Personally, i really don't care all that much if he returns or not. The only important thing is that they find someone who has the skills to do justice to the character and fits the vision/direction the director wants to go. And while i think Routh didn't do a bad job with what he was given in SR, he didn't do anything outstanding that makes me say, i HAVE to see the guy in the tights again. What IMO actually militates against Routh is the fact that he brings the baggage from the last movie with him, that should be lost.

but this wb the execs can even decide how to supposedly reboot the franchise and now with 2012 deadline we are libel to get peace a crap from the studio.

Part of it may be the result of hurt pride over the most recent representation of their favorite hero being transient and expendable, compared to the multi-installment success of others. Having a constant face to the franchise creates a sense of solidarity and continuation, whereas things are obviously in flux.
