No Ed Zwick, he'd try to make it some sort of historical epic....

Since I think that WB is going to hire a "yes man" who has probably worked for them before I'm going to throw out Jaume Collet-Serra as a suggestion.
He directed "House of Wax" and "Orphan." I think that "Orphan" is a flat out good thriller and I liked "House of Wax" better than any of the other horror remakes. Yeah it has Paris Hilton in it but she didn't detract from what was a very charming and entertaining movie IMHO. Going by those two films I think that the director does a good job with the shlock he's saddled with and that he might have potential. I know that alot of posters are going to think that I am nuts.

I don't because I think a lot of posters here have this elitist attitude towards directors thinking that they should have directed some oscar worthy movie or a billion dollar franchise (ex. james cameron) to be looked at. I think what most are forgetting is that its not exactly easy to become a director let alone break through. So if you were given the chance to direct a movie like house of wax or do nothing I'm sure 100% of the people here would direct it, instead of starving at home hoping there big break would come being given an amazing film. Now obviously a good director can really turn a bad script into something watchable. I guess my point is we shouldnt dismiss some directors because there movies were average.

Well said. It is like I SEE SPDEY says , there are directors who have made perfectly enjoyable movies . Sure they may not have been well received critically but they were far better then the trainwrecks of such flicks like say Meet The Spartans . People tend to forget that the respected filmmakers of recent started making pretty bad movies. WHo would've thought that a guy like Peter Jackson could've made the LOTR movies . Did anyone see his horror movies. They're so far from what he's doing now. Ditto Guillermo Del Toro. I don't think Peter Jackson offered Del Toro the job of directing the Hobbit based on Blade 2 or Cronos or Mimic. Still i think that WB should look at some talented guys who haven't made movies before but have impressed with short films. Look at Joseph Kosisnki. Currently directing Tron Gelacy and he had just made some commercials as well as directing short videos for HALO and GOW. I think above all someone who will direct Supes needs to have an understanding of visuals. I'm hoping that WB get someone like Carl Erik Rinsch ( or ideally him). http://www.collider.com/2010/04/10/c...rinschs-small/ In case no one has seen his short movie. That stuff was pretty awesome. And i think he's also Ridley's Scott son-in-law.

why would WB go out and tell to the public which directors they want?
how would then anyone make a deal and sign a contract? |

well films like these or certain films in general prior to director being officially announced we usually hear of certain folks are circling a project. So it would be nice if we did officially have some real director's names being mentioned so we could get a feel on type of person the studio is going for and if they have done a few films or projects prior we get a feel at what they could bring to the table.

It's been 6 weeks since we've heard anything.
That tells me W.B. is either keeping things very tight lipped, or things aren't as far along as we thought. I have no idea which, just thinking out loud.

Superman is probably something he will work on more when it fits into a certain timetable. I also think when it gets closer to starting the next Superman franchise, if Nolan is still on board, it will be revealed that he is going to end up being the director. Jmo.

I think it was clear that DC will unveil their plans for the future movies in San Diego, probably with the first official Green Lantern photo.

I realise that because Cameron has made a lot of money and success (yet again) that it is popular to hate him, but when you get past the jealousy you realise how stupid it is to compare him to Bay.

yea i just cant wait to see the timeline of when they will get to casting, to actually shooting, and its release. Cause once we know that we should have a better handle on how hands on nolan may or may not be. Cause if filming is after he shoots batman 3 he would have more time to work along with superman. If they are filming around the same timeframe likely will be less hands on. Hopefully we will get something of note at comic con this year.

'' Eh, that sounds about right. Thing is though Warner Brothers just hasn't been one to make epic unveilings at the convention. ****, just look at last year. We heard tons of brouhaha on Green Lantern casting with Ryan Reynolds officially announced weeks before the Con. And when it hit? Barely a word was uttered on Lantern. Nothing ball-bustingly big was announced by then. We knew Reynolds was Hal Jordan and Martin Campbell was directing already by that point.Plus, as others have pointed out, WB didn't officially announce The Dark Knight (then Batman 2) until after the Con hit along with Heath Ledger's casting as the Joker (as first broken by Latino Review), its title and release date. That was it. If I'm a betting man, I say they make the announcement(s) on Batman 3The Man of Steel) before Inception and especially before Comic-Con. That or us or our movie-news colleagues leak the details first.'' (and possibly

Man, it's tough being a fan of Superman on film..it's like taking a trip to a dentist.
Hopefully Nolan will be our Dr. feelgood.

So do you guys think there is a fairly decent chance that Nolan wraps up Batman, then moves on to Superman (including director responsibilities?)

Nolan has the money, power and talent. he needs to do movies like Inception. hollywood needs them.
people complain about book adaptations, sequels, remakes and prequels. yet directors like Jackson,Spielberg and Scott are only doing that kind of movies. Nolan is right now thinking outside the box and is giving the masses something unique. it would be a waste of time and hes talent to make a second comicbook character. batman 3 should be hes last comicbook movie and then he needs to go on the path to become one of the best directors. |

If you ever get the time, do yourself a favor and rent The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Obviously, it's not exactly the type of tone I'd want for a Superman film, but it manages to be great as both a scary popcorn flick and a compelling courtroom drama, which is a big accomplishment for any director.

Ed Zwick is my top choice to Direct a Green Arrow film.
One suggestion I have for Superman is Drew Goddard. Another is Neil Blomkamp.

Strong script and performances in Titanic, Avatar, True Lies and the Abyss? ![]() Not to mention the the WHOLE PLOT of his both Terminator movies is a paradox and therefore a giant plot hole. Of that bunch Aliens is possibly the only one that holds a candle on that matter... and it's based on Ridley Scott's seeds.

it will be great when ever we do officially have director on board. So then hopefully we can see where things could be going if it someone who has prior work to look back at to see the general look/theme/etc.... said guy usually goes with his films.
