Very simple. Baroness comes from a rich aristocratic family. She's in love with Destro. And she's a hot evil woman that wears glasses. She's a BARONESS.

Well she only joined Destro and Cobra originally because her brother was killed in Southeast Asia by Snake-Eyes. They just made her brother relevant to their story in the movie version. It's essentially the same premise except for her engagement to Duke and the mind control. I hear she is still supposed to be Destro's lady once she is apart of MARS/Cobra.

In the set picture, she looks like a bottle blond. I'm going with the theory that she's in disguise. I guess maybe I'm hopelessly optimistic when it comes to this movie.

ugh. Her origin is almost exactly the same in the comics. and Natalie Portman would not play the character better, unless you want Baroness American because Portman is horrible with accents.
