Gough's Alfred was far from terrible & the one thing I enjoyed the most about the movie was Arnold's Mr. Freeze & O'Donnell's Robin. |

The problem with this movie is that there was way too much **** going on. Completely wipe out the Batgirl storyline from the movie (which was only there to sell more toys and get girls interested in Batman), tone down the villains, and lose some of the corny dialogue, and this had a legitimate chance to be GOOD.
There would have been more of an oppurtunity to focus on the Batman/Robin dynamic and the dying Alfredy plot thread, which was the strongest point in the movie, IMO.

Why, thank you.
As for Clooney, no, he was not the best Batman. However, I didn't think he was that bad as Bruce Wayne. His scenes with Alfred and when he has to convince Dick to trust him at the end aren't bad at all. Even some of his Batman scenes are decent. He obviously wasn't told to play the character all grim and gloomy. Batman seemed more conversational, which is how he was back in the 50s and 60s.

And people think I'm crazy for comparing the two.

Glorious, glad to see I'm not the only one...Honestly, I think the SHH Batman board should have a HUGE simultaneous screening of this movie...And allow all of us to rip on it throughout...Respectfully, of course...It's a great film- for what it is...Not to be taken as part of the dark, gloomy, serious Bat-world...

I'm half-watching it on TBS right now, just because I feel like having something in the background while I'm chatting with some friends on AIM. I haven't seen it in years, so why not remind myself of the ... Badness?
I have to say this though: Uma Thurman would have made a great Poison Ivy. I know that her acting in the film is WAY over the top, but I blame the directing for that. |

Yes, her and Jim Carey were the two best casting decisions for BF and B&R

This is just one of those movies, that define a chapter of your childhood or life, and no matter how much you want to hate them when you get older because of their obvious suckiness- you just can't help but enjoy it when they're on... |

"AHHHH, CHILLED TO PERFECTION!!!" Arnold's so horrible, it actually becomes a brilliant comedic performance...Trumps Carrey's riddler, if you ask me...lmao

I agree...How is it that I cannot resist watching any of the Schumacher bat films whenever they come on? Bane is the only villain that he SERIOUSLY DESTROYED...the others were just misinterpreted...he had nuances of what they should've been, but just came up missing the bridge by a few feet...It annoys me that they changed Batgirl's origin though...Alfred's niece? Computer hacking identities?
Seriously- BATGIRL: Bruce, it's ME!!!.....I found the batcave... ROBIN: We have to kill her... BATMAN: We have to save the city first, no time- we'll kill her later... uhhhh... |

I think that Schumacher should have re-written the script and recasted B&R. And I wish he would have looked at BTAS for inspiration.
