Admitedly, this thread is a spinoff of/was inspired by other threads but nonetheless I think I it deserves it's own attention. Like many, I love B'89 and BR but BF leaves something to be desired in terms of being part of that continuity (no comment on B&R). With the plethora of direct to DVD comic book titles being released nowadays, why not finish this intended trilogy? Tim could come back and at least produce and Michael Keaton could provide the voice for Batman; they could even design the characters to look like Keaton and the rest of the cast. I think we can all recognize that not every animated direct to DVD feature that WB puts out is a resounding success; let's tell WB what we want so they can stop wasting their money and our's.

i agree, BF didnt feel like a sequel, it felt like a restart. i think schumachet wanted to make BF a fresh slate, ignoring the prior films. well he succeeded expertly.

I know it's too late for this now. But surely I'd love a Burton's Batman with Sweeney Todd's visuals.

First off a trilogy was not 'intended.' Hell, according to Burton, Batman Returns was not even intended.
Burton's Batman fits right in with the mythos, it does not have to be a trilogy story on it's on, and it's not. Just like with the comic books, writers and artists come in and do their own take for a graphic novel or two, they leave their imprint then pass the torch to someone else and move on. That's what Burton did with the films. The Dark Knight Returns and Strikes Again does not have a part III. Long Halloween and Dark Victory does not have a part III(not counting the prequel). Batman and Batman Returns does not have a part III, just a vague continuation, just like with comic books. Tim Burton simply presented his take on two Batman stories featuring a handful of villains and moved on. I never got the "he must come back and one day finish a part 3" stuff and this is coming from someone who likes Burton more than the other directors.

I would like to see a Burton Batman 3 but...
1) Burton said he doesn't want to do it anymore. 2) Micheal Keaton prob won't return has Batman.

Yeah, you are right on these parts. Totally agree with the comic book artists doing there own take is no different than movie directors doing theres.. Oh and to answer the other poster...No way in hell Keaton would come back, I'm sure he is in the 50s now and wouldn't dream of wearing a Batsuit. |

Im not totally sure, but I think because after BR his career was kinda so so, he was labeled BATMAN. Ive heard through numerous people including big time collector SHADOWBAT69, that if you hand Keaton a batman glossy to sign, he'll nicely refuse.

I think that's a bunch of crap, not so long ago he signed Batman dvds during an interview for White Noise and he has stated numerous times even in the last couple of years how grateful he is to Batman for allowing him artistic freedom to do whatever he wants. He always answers questions about Batman and when he isn't, he himself brings it up (see recent appearences in talk shows like Leno or Letterman for proof).
I don't believe for one minute he tries to negate his legacy as Batman, he embraces it.

I wish I could meet him but I live overseas. Again I don't know if that's true or not, I don't know Shadowbat69 or his agenda. Some fans like to bash Keaton but in a way that no one gets it by saying they're fans of his but at same time saying he doesn't care about Batman. Or maybe the guy just treated him like he didn't do nothing else but Batman. That could be irritating given the wide variety of roles Keaton did. He made my hero come to life but I've always loved his work and his non-Batman performances, some of them as much as in Batman.
Maybe it didn't even had nothing to do with Batman but the fact that Keaton was in no-day. Something could have happaned to him and he wasn't in a mood to sign anything and since Shadow had only Batman stuff a misunderstanding was born. White Noise did come out 3 years ago but I've never seen him change his tune and I don't believe he would stop signing Batman stuff just because a new movie came out. Or he would have done the same thing when Forever came out as a big hit. He was always a big supporter of Begins and it's crew and everytime he speaks of Batman and it's legacy he seems real proud and happy with it, so I don't believe that out of a sudden he won't sign stuff Batman related. Until I see true proof like a home video of him refusing to sign it.

Keaton's not the one who despises his typecast.
I mean hell, didn't MTV talk to him about 'Batman Begins' and he said that THAT was the way he would've wanted he and Burton's third film to go (which leads me to believe that there's a good chance Keaton has seen 'Begins'...maybe not, but still). Besides, seeings how we have Bale and Nolan and everyone seems generally pleased with the way things are going, there really is no deep need and outspoken desire to retread and back peddle back to Burton's take on the character. Of course, being the Batman I grew up with, I'd love to see them do it...but there isn't a part of me missing without it. No...the crown in question belongs to Mr. Peter Weller. Apparently any mention of Robocop pisses him off to no end. CFE

Keaton didn't contribute to the 2005 DVDs, did he?
Even Jack Nicholson appeared on those. Kim Basinger, Danny DeVito, Val Kilmer....no Keaton.

I'm hoping they have new interviews specifically with Keaton and features on the blu-ray re-release. I hated how it was just archived interviews for him though interesting ones. Part of me feels like it will justend up being a high def double dip
I'm also one that is more of a fan of the man not just cause of Batman. Beetlejuice has been in my top 15 films of all time forever and was one of my most watched films growing up. Easily my favorite Burton movie but I still maintain his best were Ed Wood and Big Fish. As far as Keaton Night Shift is also one of my favorites and Clean & Sober, My Life, The Paper & Johnny Dangerously.

Yeah but he wasn't asked. When he promoted White Noise he said he would have liked to do it but nobody asked him. I assume there's some bad blood still (with Warner) over the fact that Keaton never sold out for money and didn't do Batman Forever or Batman And Robin like they wanted. Maybe they didn't want Keaton to tell the true story of what happaned.

What?
I never said that. Ive met Keaton, thats how I got his autograph. I said he doesnt like having the crazy, rabid fan running up to him making a big deal. Hes a quit guy and doesnt like the attention out in public like that. I worked with his cousin, thats how I was able to meet him when he was in Pittsburgh visiting relatives. He did a very brief appearance at a comic con. I was introduced to him, I told him it was a pleasure metting him and ow I enjoy his movies. His cosuin told him I was a big Batman collector. He said "ah". I asked if I could get an autograph on a photo I had printed out. He obliged. It was very brief, but he was polite and cordial the whole time. He had no problem signing the Batman photo. Not sure where my story got twisted around at. The only negative encounter Ive had with a Batman actor was with Adam West.
