Ok I know what a gi looks like. I also know you can wear whatever color combination you like or as many patches you can fit. I study BJJ. Plenty there to look at. The thing is, Goku never wore a regular looking gi. Plenty of characters did and that is why you can see the obvious contrast between his look and the others.

Also since when did Goku look normal? Reason he didn't look like the ring announcer.

I don't know what people were expecting.

It is a karate uniform. They look like pajamas half of the time. So how can people say it looks cheap? Just because it is not baggy like in the cartoons.

There is nothing wrong with his uniform, if anything it's the best part of this movie so far

i have a problem with his main gi. i don't think the gi is HORRIBLE...but i don't think it looks particularly cool either. to me it looks forced and unnatural. it looks like something he would wear on occasion instead of something that he would wear if he were just sparring with his best friend. everything is new and shiny. it basically looks like a really good cosplay.

i was hoping that they would go with cloth and materials that looked more like this...

...but then again, i was also hoping that they would take this movie in an entirely different route, so whatever.

Not the biggest fan of that, but it would be a step in the right direction. Also always liked the illusion that you never knew were the top and the bottom began.

i don't mean to flaunt my work, but if you check out the art thread you'll see a sketch of how i think the costume could have worked without looking like cosplay.

Source? And yes it seems as if both Goku and Roshi were pasted on to that background, but then again I've never seen that picture of Goku before or Roshi for that matter.
