Reptile could easily done with prosthetic if they'd decide to go the more reptilian route.

Of course it depends how much reptile they want to make him. Personally I don't ever want to see the Deadly Alliance version on screen. Either MK4 or MK:Shaolin Monks.

Some good choices. But Donnie Yen needs to be Kung Lao.

That would be Michael Jai White. The live action version of Spawn.

I like the ideas of Chris Evans for Johnny Cage, Ali Larter for Sonya, and Michael Jai White for Jax. Evans' portrayal of Johnny Storm (in "Fantastic Four") could be combined with a bit more melodrama and a generous dose of narcissism for Cage. Of the three choices mentioned, Larter's the only one I could seriously see as Sonya, and MJW has proven his "cinematic badass" status more than once.

I'm onboard the Ali Larter for Sonya bandwagon as well. Think given the right script Ali could most definitely fit Sonya.

I'd like the filmmakers to explore her original story as well from MK1, with Shang Tsung forcing her into the tournament to protect her military unit, and her vendetta with Kano caused by him murdering her twin brother, Daniel Blade.

Definitely all for the basics in regards to the mythos of all the characters in general.

Yep, and that's precisely why I think they should stick with the original 8 characters, and have very small cameos for a few of the others.

The original MK game had the following storylines all going at once:

1) Shang Tsung corrupting the Shaolin Tournament for his own gain
2) Johnny Cage entering to cement and improve his "Hollywood superstar" image
3) Sonya fighting to protect her unit from Tsung, and avenge Daniel's death by killing Kano
4) Liu Kang being a member of a top-secret Chinese military unit (the White Lotus Society), sent on assignment to investigate Shang Tsung
5) Raiden being invited by Tsung personally, and assuming human form to compete in the tournament
6) Kano wanting to control the criminal underworld, and kill Sonya in the process
7) Sub-Zero on a personal mission to kill Shang Tsung
8) Scorpion on a similar mission to take out Sub-Zero for his own murder
9) Goro being used as a pawn by Tsung to conquer the Earth

What about Shang actually being the age, he was in the original game? Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the original movie's take on things, but I'm all for Shang being his older self and taking down opponents without issue.

michael jai white is more commonly known to me as spawn, but he'd be a good choice for jax
as much as i like the idea of jason statham being kano, lol, i don't see it happening
the guy from the last samurai is a good choice for raiden tho.
ali larter would be good as sonya
sean farris for johnny cage is also good, altho i think they would need to pick people in a closer age range for johnny and sonya
and sub-zero (the original) i don't really have a care for as who plays him, he's got a mask on and he dies in part 1. for any of the ninjas i really don't have a preference as long as they are real ninjas, lol. and ed boon would have to do the voice for scorpion.

lastly, the designs should be taken from the new mortal kombat vs dc look, they are truely original designs more so than shaolin monks. however i feel that if they use sub-zero and kill him in art 1 i dont' kno if he should have the ice arms. his good brother should, along with the scar, as he is more powerful

Nice casting choice on Kano. I was thinking Vinnie Jones, but Statham works too.

I agree with a lot of the choices here.

Johnny Cage - Chris Evans
Sonya - Ali Larter
Jax - Micheal Jai White
Kano - Jason Statham or Vinnie Jones
Sub-Zero - Ray Park

I can't imagine a Raiden though, without comparing him to Lambert, who pretty much owns that role, imo.
