Why does Nick Fury have an eye patch?
..instead of a bionic eye or something? With all the technology at his disposal...

Because he still has an eye under the patch. His vision is just so reduced (around 5% of normal) that he wears the patch anyway.
There have been a couple times (most notably the "FURY" miniseries in the 90's) were they have given him bionic enhancements for it. But the patch is so iconic for him that they never stuck. Also, this would be one of those questions that is good for the Official Stupid Questions thread that is stuck to the top of the forum.

I can't believe people take the "stupid question" part of the thread's title so seriously. It's a thread for any questions about any weird comic minutiae that don't really require a whole thread devoted to them. If I were fury... I'd get a bionic eye and still wear the patch. The patch would hide the bionic eye but wouldn't hinder his ability to use it. Just a thought anyway.
