I keep reading responses to the music...Rock music in the film is fine...rock music blended score...not very good. Sorry...it made it corny to me. other than that...like i said before...9.5!

What makes the movie more than decent is that the script was so fresh and that it's one of those comic book movies that managed to make me like 96% of it basically. Heck,as much I as I liked BB,that movie didn't even accomplish that, and I think a certain something I said is saying something really positive and strong.

You might as well watch EXTREME lameness like the overrated Spiderman 1 and 2 movies IMO. Now those movies are decent at best. I'm not being biased,I am just being honest from my perspective. Robert was that damn good as Iron Man and unbelievable in a positive fashion!
The script wasn't fresh. The style may have been there, but the movie lacked anything fresh. Nothing was presented that we have not seen in a comic book movie before. Plus they showed all of the good scenes in the trailer which made the story even more predictable.

Considering your favorite movies include such gems as Daredevil and Ghost Rider, I don't think it's worth arguing since you apparently are satisfied by the subpar.

How else am I supposed to take the "Shameless product placement" comment?
For what it is. Shameless product placement. Blatant product placement. Whatever you want to call it. I didn't say "shameful". I don't really care, it doesn't affect the movie itself. But if you want me to compare product placement found in IRON MAN with what is found in TRANSFORMERS, I find that in TRANSFORMERS, the product placement informs the story and is much more interesting. A Verizon phone and Burger King just "being there" doesn't compare to a Mountain Dew machine and an Ipod attacking people.

See? I didn't even remember. It just blended right into the storyline.

I don't think the script was totally fresh, but I thought Iron Man was pretty good regardless. Others can say the same about the comic book movies you like(them calling them subpar). Oh,and excuse me for not being as demanding as you when it comes to expecting a good comic book movie.

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

It was very good...imo the beginning was good, the middle was excelent, but the end was very average.

Stane had such potential...the paralysis gun and ripping out Tony's heart, as well as Bridges acting job was ace when he was in the office with Pepper.

However, they didn't make Iron Monger a true mountain that needed to be conquered. They just had him beat the **** out of Tony, and eventually get killed by a blast. Really lame and power rangers.

I would've given the movie a better grade (a 9 or a 10) if it had some more meaningful fight scenes. Everything up until Obadiah rips out Tony's artificial heart is amazing...from there on it goes for too predictable a finish. It was such a dimwitted finish for an otherwise intelligent movie.

I also was hoping there would be an extra layer of depth with Mandarin pulling the strings...not that I'd want mandarin as a full fledged villain, just kind of settup enough that we'd know he was in #2.

I never saw the problem some people have with product placement.

I saw a burger king restaurant while driving home, so I don't really have a problem with seeing one in a film.

the first half was amazing and exciting
pros:

really really enjoyed where he became friends with the Doctor and the whole process of them making the suit was just exciting.

CGI was amazing

great acting by downey and bridges

loved the whole scene with him saving the town, that was probably the best scene in the whole movie

CONS:

terrence howard was just way too soft for his role imo

last battle with Iron Monger kinda sucked, was boring and nothing to exciting and Iron Man didn't do that much.

there was no need for him and the reporter having that scene where there making out, the movie pretty much showed that he's a playboy, imo that scene wasn't neccessary

other than that the movie was good and i give it
7.5/10

The movie made me buy burger king for lunch today because I wanted to be just like Tony Stark, he eats burger king burgers and I should too, otherwise I would have just had tacobell.....

/end sarcasm

Im actually suprised the topic of product placement has gone on this long. Its not like this was any worse than any other movie.

I think Iron Man was a witty script, but it wasn't a work of great genius. They could have worked more into the plot.

I completely agree with you about Daredevil though...worst comic movie ever.

I really enjoyed the movie, hopefully the second movie it will show Iron man kicking ass though. But seriously I was very entertained by it, I liked the music and how he became Iron man. I give it a 10.

I very seldom, give a movie a 10 out of 10. It is a practice that is very over done on these boards. 10 out of 10, to me, implies perfection within the genre...Batman Begins did not achieve this, Spider-Man did not achieve this. Superman The Movie (for all the praise it recieves) did not achieve this. Iron Man is the first comic book movie, EVER that can claim perfection. This movie was everything a comic book movie ought to be. It had amazing action, great CGI, the characters were well written, the romance was very well done (which is something that cannot often be said about a comic movie). It had everything a comic movie needs, a great cast, a good ammount of humor, top notch action, and a good story. Easily the best comic movie I have ever seen. Plus the post-credit scene alone was worth the price of admission.

10 out of 10.

i've hardly ever picked up a comic book in my life... but i've watched a crap load of movies... and, dammit, this was a damn good movie!

honestly, no lie, this was the best comic book/super hero based movie i've ever seen. it was just so damn enjoyable... it blew "the best" out of the water (superman, spider-man, x-men, etc). even though the actual "iron-man" had little screen time, the performances were just so spot on it didn't really matter.

this is a perfect example of how comic book movies ought to be made.
