The_Horrors Comic-book Coloring Contest!

Hello creatives and masters of photoshop. So, I had a discussion today with the writer and co-creator of my comic about adding color. Now originally we did the book in black and white, but would like to have a few examples of some color pages, in case whoever picks us up has the budget and would like it in color.

Than being said, here are a few cool pages with a general idea of the color scheme we want to follow (unless you blow our minds with something unique and groundbreaking)

So why turn this into a contest? Well basically, if you are a badass colorist and would like to be paid, that is what this will ulitmately lead to. (Even if the book is B&W the covers will ALWAYS be in color) If we like your stuff, we will invite you to the team and you can be a part of this groundbreaking comic from the beginning.

Cairo-- his armor should look like it was originally gold, but after 5 years on the run, its going to be dirty and rusted in some parts.



The following is the cover, basically a manilla envelope with some of the main characters (just go along the same lines for Cairo as I described before)-- The girl should be blue, almost as if she was made of water. Enki (the tribal guy) should be tan, almost black, with colored tattoos. The Squarish thing on the cover, next to the photos, is the seal of the Alliance (think of how an old monarch would seal an envelope using wax-- that was the idea ) (Also you'll notice the cover says project eden, that was the original title but was taken by at the copyright office. so if you dont mind changing it like I did for the example below.

actually, i know i moaned about not having enough time to do this, but this is the first time i've colored somebody else's stuff and it was a really interesting experience. so thanks for that! i hope you like what i've come up with. i would've liked to have spent more time on it, it's a bit of a rush job, but... never mind... here it is!

Cool! Its always nice to get another artists take on one of your own characters! I LOVE the shading! You may be hearing from me in the near future! Phig can you do your take on the cover? You've seen the one ive done, but i would love to see your style.

cool, man. i'm glad you dig it! as for taking a crack at your cover... possibly but i'm afraid probably not until next weekend if i'm honest, my life is crazy busy with rehearsals for my play as well as trying to get together a web comic pitch and finish up a commission piece... but if you can wait till next weekend i'll give it a go then!

a master...? aw shucks, you're too kind... you ain't so bad yourself. by the way, you don't mind if i post that coloured picture of Enki in my own thread? Making it clear, of course, that pencils & inks are yours. Also, re: the cover and the color scheme... should i go with the colored version you did? do you like my color sheme for enki or would you prefer i used your one from the cover?

yeah dude-- no probs about your thread... Enki looks amazing! I saved it right away

as for the cover-- i would take the basic colors and re interpret the rest-- its just supposed to look like an old manilla folder... so take it as you will
